Between my nephews experience on campus with a naughty boy showing himself, to my experience not being accepted with my student being on an iep and esa… the system is broken. How am I self pay, but they’re saying the state won’t pay them more for a student on an iep… well duh we have a grant that will pay more. Is it about the money or the student’s education. What I realize is that is does boil down to the money. More students in the seats the more money in their pockets.

First - most of the teachers are great. It is the administration and advisor area that is severely lacking. My kids advisors swapped multiple times mid stream, and clearly the advisor could not keep up with the work load. No contact, and we received a notice out of nowhere one of my kids was going to be withdrawn because he was behind. Lessons get canceled, staff changed constantly, but the kids are supposed to stay focused and engaged.

We switched our child here after a horrible experience at our previous school, and due to COVID. We are so glad that we made the change. Yes, there are some growing pains because the middle school program is new (hence the only 4 stars), but they willingly take feedback and make changes. The teachers are engaged and constantly available to the students for questions. My child is on an IEP and they have been so much more supportive and willing to follow the IEP than our previous public school. There is no “babysitting” here, so your child needs to be a self-starter (or you need to work from home so you can be available to keep them on task). Another benefit is that your child can take concurrent college classes at ASU for free (if they’re an AZ resident.)We are so happy that we made the switch and plan on staying until high school graduation.
