It's horrible and my child will be going to a charter school where she can actually be challenged and paid attention to next year as well as be in the gifted classes.

As a teacher at Kimbell, I can say that I was there solely for the kids. There is a lot of things that go on behind the scenes that others do not see. The behavior issues are hardly ever properly addressed. Students who should receive a reprimand for their actions do not receive them. I do not always agree with suspending a student under the age of 12 but if the student is putting harm towards others, then there needs to be a consequence. And repeated offenses should be addressed as such, not just a lecture and get sent back to class. There needs to be MAJOR structure in this school in order for it to function properly and structure is what it lacks. There is not much support from people who are supposed to provide support for teachers. Especially teachers coming into this for the first time, being with this demographic and learning the ways to handle situations with these students. The majority of my students are what kept me there for as long as I could. The majority of the students are there to want to be there. However there are those few students who do not care and when situations arise, those students are not held accountable for their actions and they get away with pretty much everything, no matter what the teacher tries to do. If there was much more structure and support for the teachers at Kimbell, I would have been more than happy to stay. I only hope things get better, because these children especially, deserve a school that actually cares about them as much as the teachers show them.

My daughter has been going to this school since first grade she is now a third grader and I could not be more happy with the teachers and the staff. They are absolutely amazing. To see this school with such a low rating is saddening. This school is not getting the credit it deserves.

THIS SCHOOL IS WONDERFUL. WHN I ENROLLED MY 2 CHILDREN IMMEDIATELY THE PRINCIPAL AND OTHER FACULITY MEMBERS WENT OUT OF THERE WAY AND INTRODUCED THEMSELVES AND NOT TO MENTION THE TEACHERS R WANTING TO BE INVOLVED AND VERY HELPFUL WITH YOUR CHILDRENS ACHEIVEMENTS! NOW 2 YEARS LATER MY LAST CHILD WILL NOW BE ATTENDING KIMBELL THIS YEAR AND I COULDNT BE ANYER HAPPY!

My daughter has attended Kimbell since kindergarten. She absolutely loves it. I am very active with the school. I do not have any issues with the staff at all. They have been very helpful. The people complaining about lack of PTA & SAC meetings should try to get more involved, in my opinion. I noticed that some of the school functions and meetings are short of parent volunteers. I think if the parents were more involved it would be easier for the staff to get things done. The complaints against the principal may be valid. I know her personally but only because I have went out of my way to meet her. The assistant principal is amazing! As well as the rest of the staff. The social worker and guidance counselor are great too. The all know EVERY SINGLE STUDENT by name. My daughter loves the school. Her teachers have all been very dedicated to help her and encourage her to do her best. I love them for that. They even go out of their way to help parents become better parents. The environment is always safe and secure. I feel comfortable leaving my daughter in the care of the adults because they honestly seem to care. I have and will continue to recommend this school to all.

i recently moved to tampa from indiana. and at first i thought the school was going to be alright. but my daughter whom just recieved glasses and who was doing well in school back home they say is failing in reading. well we just found out she needed the glasses and she is very upset that they are not going to pass her because she cudnt see. i do not like the nurse she is very very rude and i believe they need to find a more nicer person.

The principle, in my opinion, is a large part of Kimbell's problem. She doesn't show up to school functions, and can't answer simple questions. Sure, she is a very sweet women, but sweetness don't get the job done. My child attended Kimbell 2nd thru 5th grade. There was never a proper PTA, very few school functions, and the quality of communication was poor. Something needs to change quick!
