I am impressed by the effort of the faculty

I have had problems at other schools with getting help with my son. And this was the only school that I received help for him. I was nervous to put him here because of the rough area. But the teachers and staff are very caring of their students. They always have a way to keep the kids motivated.

I worked at this school for one year. This school is in a rough neighborhood and serves students who come from lower-income families. The school does its best to provide a warm, caring environment for its students - however, it falls short when properly serving the students' academic needs. Due to poor school ratings, the school stays open for an extra hour each day beyond normal school hours. However, this is a detriment, not a benefit, as parents from other neighborhoods seemed to start sending their kids to Edison simply because they wanted the additional hour of day-care. These students need a lot of extra attention, care, and support, and this needs to be achieved by smaller class sizes, not longer days. In addition, extra guidance and counseling services are needed at this school to provide support for the many challenges that these students face at home. Overall, the school has great intentions but poor application of educational methods. Some teachers are very caring and supportive, and others are just overwhelmed by the challenges at this school and frustrated by the limited support system offered by Hillsborough County for struggling schools like this.
