I wish I sent my child to another school.Questioning an instructor about my child’s work or grades is often considered as confrontational or reprisal towards my child in class. Teachers dont keep confidences as requested by parents in discussing email parent/teacher correspondence. It’s discussed with student even though parent asked it be keep confidential and not discussed with child.

I agree with the parent post Nov 2012. We are actually new to Sumter and had lived around the globe and from my experience Sumter HS is by far one of the Worse experiences! The overall education level in Sumter appears lower than many other places. Many of the teachers my children had to endure at Sumter HS are totally unprofessional! Sadly we are here due to military purposes otherwise I would never consider such a down grade! Can't wait to leave this school system and the city. Children definitely DESERVE better than what is being offered. Good luck to the locals!

For those parents who have never lived outside of Sumter, this school may be what they think as good. Having lived in other areas around the US, I can tell you that it is very weak in many areas from my observations. On the few times I have come to visit the office, I have seen students wandering aimlessly in the halls and witnessed horrible behavior and profanity right in front of the office personnel with absolutely nothing said to the students! If there were a better option for my son, I would take it without thinking twice.
