The school was okay for me. Some teachers can be "bullies", and push you around, but they truly want the best for you. Best advice for incoming 7th graders is simply to do your best in class, work hard, and strive for success. This school is disgusting, particularly the gym lockerrooms, it has a horrid smell. Lockers are tiny and you can barely fit anything inside of them, but for the time being, it's fine. The staff push the students to have useless binders, but, whatever, right? I wish students were allowed to carry backpacks as it may help reduce the groups of people in the hallways, and overall, be more effective. If this school were to be renovated, I believe it has tremendous potential. Incoming students have a lot to look forward to because the district is issuing Chromebooks. Final words of advice, in school, just stick to the right people, don't try to act cool. Good luck if you're an incoming student.

I am graduating this year from Canton Middle School and I had a great experience for the two years I went here. The teachers CARE about the students. The whole staff is great. The principal Mr.Smith is a kind, funny, laid back guy who you can tell really loves his job. The assistant principal Mr.Jackson (he's like 7 feet) is funny but strict and the teachers are all really awesome here. Yeah I mean maybe Canton isn't the richest school EVER but they still send the students on Awesome field trips, the events and clubs are great too. At the end of the year, we are all going on a cruise in Chicago to celebrate a great year! I went into canton expecting a bad experience, but I got a GREAT experience. I will always remember the amazing staff

My son is finishing his first year at Canton. He likes his teachers, has made a lot of friends and is on the honor roll. My wife and I really like the teachers. They are very nice, high energy, very responsive and form an excellent partnership with involved parents. The principal is very involved with the students and parents. He strongly enforces rules and regulations. He has done a fantastic job turning this school around for the better! We highly recommend sending your children to Canton.

If I had children preparing to attend Canton Middle School this fall, I would rather give my house away rather than send them to a place where teachers bully children and have a focus on beating kids down rather than building them up. Take your children and run to the nearest attendance district besides U46. Ask the Superintendent why he backed off from his pledge to have all schools meeting or exceeding expectations.
