Visits from NASA astronauts, award winning authors, musicians, and artists, world class scientists, MIT professors, conservationists and the list goes on - this all really happens at The Children’s School. My child comes home inspired, curious, excited, and full of wonder! The teachers are incredibly kind and thoughtful, dedicated, and highly educated and experienced. Basically, this school is a dream come true for our family! Simply the best early education you could possibly give to your child.

Do not bother with this school if you have a child with special needs like ours. What a joke their STATEMENT OF INCLUSION and Non-Discrimination Statement. This school does not even make an effort to work with interested parents like us with a child with special needs. We were forthright with them prior to applying, but was quickly told our child's needs would not be met. Rather than provide support and inclusion, families like ours are turned away and cannot be bothered with.

We could not be happier with our choice of TCS. Our three-year old daughter is so happy at the school - the teachers are world-class and absolutely wonderful, and Maureen Murphy is a legend who continues to be as focused and hands-on as she must have been many years ago. She sets a wonderful tone at the school, and it is a magical and special experience for both the children and their families. Their only goal is to develop these wonderful minds who love to engage and learn, and who are also learning to be kind, considerate, and respectful human beings. We feel so fortunate to have found it and to be part of it.

I toured eight schools in Fairfield County and spent a great deal of time researching and speaking with other parents before deciding on the Children's School. My experience has exceed all expectations - all aspects of the school are carefully thought through by the staff and supported by the latest research on child development. The teachers are extremely caring, well-trained and respectful toward children. Each child is truly known by the whole school and treated as an individual. It is the only school in the area that has one-on-one individualized lessons at the preschool level. Every child is fully engaged - whether it's during free-play or small group lessons, I've never seen a child look bored or unhappy during the observation sessions (no exaggeration). They have a great one-way mirror that allows parents to observe the classroom. My child could not be happier - he looks forward to going to school every day (and is actually sad when the weekend comes around!)

What an experience! Grand parents day at the Children school. Each and every teacher made us feel so welcome. My grand son showed me around, the inside space is wide, bright, colorful. Imagination has no bound for all the hands on activities. They have made learning a wonderful experience. The outdoors has been all the fun a child imagination can experience, sand areas, path ways, big huge rocks, meticulously kept. I would have loved to have such a great school when my son was toddler. I loved it.

The finest early childhood education around. The teachers are thoughtfully selected and continuously developed- a true team approach is used. Children are truly known and met where they are. I sent two very different children through the school, and they each received exactly what they needed in the same nurturing, caring environment. The school builds on its deep experience with children by always reflecting and improving. It is a true educational community, we felt it not only gave the children what they needed, but helped us grow as a family. We are not alone in our fondness for the school-the alumni network is strong and devoted, even after moving on to many other fine educational institutions, many reflect on the uniqueness and wonder of The Children's School. The Head of school and her team wholeheartedly believe in nurturing the joy of childhood and a love of learning. Your children will leave the school with strong skills and a positive view of school. A truly special place.

The Children's School is truly dedicated to early child education. The means through which they introduce children to the foundations of education (language, math, life skills, music, arts) by routinely engaging multiple senses is unique and effective. The day allows for unstructured play along with individualized lessons. The teachers are dedicated to the montessori style of education, and also gracefully limit set, redirect any conflict that arises between children, and creatively innovate when the occasion arises. The director has been there for a long time which is amazing and wonderful. The school itself is in a LEED certified building and incorporates nature and the outdoors often. A truly special place.

The Children s School has been an absolutely great experience for our entire family. Our kids are thriving and loving their school. They are excelling and keep getting that extra "push" to go even further. All the teachers are loving and thoughtful and have outstanding academic backgrounds from colleges such as Brown and Vassar. Love the philosophy, which really creates a love for learning! The outdoor space is right on giant rocks, tree stumps, wooded and sand areas, overhangs and pathways create diverse outdoor groves for imaginative play that are wonderful for exploring nature. There's a really strong parent involvement, which creates a beautiful community. And the after school enrichment programs offer something for everyone. We love this school!

Wonderful! Wonderful early childhood school! We are so happy our daughter goes to The Children s School. She is a little over 4 years old and this is her second year. All the teachers and staff are very loving and kind! They know her so well and are always available to talk about her growth and accomplishments. Whether we have a question about friends or how to support her learning at home, it is easy to schedule a time to talk with a teacher who clearly has spent a great deal of one-on-one time with our daughter and has her best interests in mind. We are very grateful to be a part of The Children s School family.

The Children s School truly is the "happy place" for our family. While my son receives an excellent education (my 5 year old is doing 2nd grade math and reading), I have made friendships that will last my lifetime.

I have been a parent at The Children s School for over 8 years. I now have three children who have attended (one is still at the school) and have considered having more kids just to prolong my time as a member of this fabulous community. This is more than a school, it is a community and a family. I drive over 30 minutes each way so that my children can experience this wonderful school!

The Children's School is exactly what its name indicates...focused on the children. The positive language they use with the children, the carefully prepared classroom, and loving teachers all make this a nurturing community for young children. The way that they can individualize for each child is unmatched. The hands-on materials make learning a concrete experience that resonates with children and allows them to soar. The bottom line is that The Children's School is a gift for parents and children alike. This is a school that will help your child blossom into a lifelong learner. My children and I couldn't be happier! I just wish it went through 5th (make that 8th) grade!

Pretentious, feels more like a country clubby environment than a school. Seems very rigid in their approach to teaching very little kids, the teachers sound like they follow a step by step guide instead of using their own creativity. Not impressed.

Revolutionizing education! Incredible philosophy and community. Have only heard and experienced great things. The teacher are great and the children graduate with such a love for learning

Admission process is not transparent and is shrouded in mystery. A clear waiting list is never shared which makes me wonder if the process is biased.

Fabulous school! Our son is returning for his third year (1st grade). The teachers are incredibly thoughtful, cheerful and capable. Teachers regularly observe one another and are required to praise and constructively criticize one another. The results are amazing. I wish all schools worked this way. Children are loved and taught as individuals. Every child gets a daily one-on-one lesson with a teacher. Classes in art, yoga, social studies, science, music, dance/movement, Spanish, chess (K+), plus math/reading/logical reasoning and unstructured outdoor time. The buildings and campus are beautiful, with lots of natural light and large rooms that allow children to roam freely and choose which activities they're interested in. Drop-off and pick-up can require 10-minute waits while cars loop around the long driveway. Experts come to talk with parents several times a year (some of these lectures are open to the public). The main problem is that it ends at 2nd grade and kids eventually must leave. And only a half-day program for 3-year-olds.
