My son was a level 4 AAP 4th grade student there. It was obvious that his teacher didn’t like boys, his music teacher was smug and the school counselor was ineffective and misinformed. When the administrators ignored a violent assault on my son I had to get the police involved to get a resolution. Several parents I talked to had the same experience. I transferred him to Keene Mill ES and I couldn’t be happier with his experience there

My son was a AAP level 4 student and we decided to transfer out to Keene Mill for the following year. It was difficult to understand the grading system as he would get a 4 in a subject but then get a 3 for effort. In a requested sit down with the music teacher the student counselor decided to sit in uninvited and made a few unwelcome comments regarding my sons behavior in his class. My son has never expressed any negative feelings towards any teacher except this one and he’s been in school since the age of 3 1/2. He was also slapped so hard by a student on the playground that the whole playground went silent. When I found out from other students there how violent the incident was I asked the vice-principal what the resolution was going to be and she ignored me. When I let the principal know I was going to file an assault charge with the police (which they are required to report) I got a call within 5 minutes. When it was evident to me they were not going to do anything I went to the local police department and asked them for my options. They offered to call the principal and I agreed. This kid had a history of bullying not only my son but others and I wanted to establish that he should be monitored more closely. All of a sudden he was not allowed out for recess and was required to see the counselor and the assault was reported to the Fairfax police. In talking with other parents there whose kids experienced bullying it was obvious they sweep these things under the rug unless the parent insists on a sit down with the principal

Four overall- due to only the teachers. The school administration office need to follow through- on what they say and don’t. There isn’t a lot of community outreach at this school nor connectivity.

This is an alright school, but I was not very content there. I'm in 9th grade, class of 2018. I don't remember much, but entering the cafeteria was revulsion due to the repulsive smell. Good luck to your children that go there.
