Excellent effective teaching - want children to succeed and do not teach to the lowest level only. Teachers are interested, engaged and not there just for paycheck (at least not overtly)

My son went there and enjoyed it! While it probably wouldn't have matter where he went! He is truly gifted and is self-motivated and essentially self-taught. Just give him the material and a slight push and he will rock it. Being somewhat of an introvert, he enjoyed his time @ St. George and interacted well and often with others! It's sad to hear about bullying and other issues that other parents have written. While, I can't speak specifically, I know that parents have to take an involvement and not only talk to your kids but teachers and friends. If there had been an issue, I would have been on the front line brain storming solutions!! This school was well worth the time and ink it took to give my son a quality education!

I can't even believe any negative reviews written about St. George's. This is by far, the best school I have ever been associated with. Both of my daughters attended public school in a highly rated district, they were chewed up and spit out. It was horrible. Neither one of them finished school, they both got their GED's.When our grand kids were born our oldest daughter planned on homeschooling all the cousins along with her own. There was no way she was going to put any more kids in our family through what her and her sister went through. Then we found St. George's and we all decided as a family we would do what it took to make sure our children could attend school there.All 3 of our grand kids LOVE and I mean LOVE school. They look forward to going every day. The teachers absolutely know your children, their strengths and weaknesses. They are able to provide individual attention to any child who needs it - nobody falls through the cracks, nobody. I have gone to the school many times. You never hear foul language from the students, everyone is polite and kind. I have never witnessed any peer pressure or bullying. Now, I can't say it's never once happened, but I know it would not be tolerated and it would be handled immediately. The kids to me look like kids who are there to learn, rather than being concerned with the latest fashions or hair & makeup. The campus is beautiful, the principle is great and very involved, the teachers are all wonderful. If I were a teacher, it would be my dream job.

I have 2 kids (an 8th and a 9th grader) that have been at SGS for 3 years. My youngest loves school & has always gotten good grades. It wasn't "cool" to get good grades at her previous school so she LOVES this environment! Initially she was nervous about the days where they do activities like kayaking, canoeing, snowshoeing, skiing etc. But not only did she end up enjoying those things, she has become much more confident. My oldest was academically slipping through the cracks of public schools. At St George's the teachers truly want him to succeed and hold him accountable. I have 2 older kids that graduated from Mead HS as Valedictorians. I'm not slamming the public school system; Mead is a good school. But neither of them did very well on their SAT's...maybe they didn't learn as much as I thought they did. The students at SGS are very accepting of kids that are different. I thought they might be a little snobby, but its quite the opposite. Finally, we're a regular family, not a country club family. We just decided that St George's is a good investment in our kids.

When looking for kindergarten placement for my son 8 years ago, I knew I wanted for a small school that would allow him to thrive throughout his school years. I visited and interviewed at several other schools knowing that although Saint George s had always been my first choice, the cost of tuition was daunting. After applying to the school, I realized that Saint George s is excellent in terms of offering financial aid and in doing so, provides a wide variety of students in different socio-economic backgrounds that I am not aware of in any other Spokane school. No other school in the area has anything to compare in terms of education, extracurricular activities, and a beautiful campus that is integrated into the curriculum. My son started in kindergarten and his sister soon followed him. The small classroom sizes allow my children s teachers to know their strengths and weaknesses and they have consistently worked with my children to bring out their best. The school size and involvement of the administrators make this a community for the entire family. I cannot imagine a better environment for students (as well as their families) to grow and develop during the critical K-12 years.

My child was relentlessly bullied by parents and children at this school. If you come from money and have the classic country club family structure you will probably thrive here. Acceptance is unfortunately not a value that is taught at this school. My child heard mentions of racism, homophobia, sexism, and blatant intolerance. The jokes some of the privileged children here will make are at the dispense of those who are suffering. And there is a drug problem here. The headmaster shows hypocrisy when dealing with this problem of alcohol and other drugs. He will chats or certain students meanwhile the ones that come from prominent families will be turned a shoulder from. This experience was overall very bad for my child. That being said there are some good teachers here who will write your children great teacher recommendations for college and the campus is just as beautiful as a private university.

We moved from another state with far more advanced schools than the Spokane area has to offer. Our children were so bored in public school that after a year we switched them both to SGS. Now they LOVE going to school and everyday come home sharing everything they learned that day. So far we are very pleased with the school.

Saint George s has an excellent kindergarten teacher who has taught at the school for nearly a decade. Her classroom is an energetic, fun learning environment that prepares students for success in later grades. As for the review below, based on the date, it was likely posted by the parent of a student who was recently dismissed due to ongoing behavior problems. You can read the other reviews below for a more balanced perspective on the school s teachers.

This school is terrific. I just came here this year, and my family got financial aid from them. It is true there are many opportunities and extracurricular activities here. In the middle school there is outdoor club(climbing, kayaking and general outdoors activities) and robotics club and many sports too. The PE is really fun and all the teachers give you the grade that you deserve and explain how to fix it if you did a bad job. Also, if you're competitive, you will like this school because there are many opportunities to compete with your classmates. The only problem with this school is the amount of homework. Without after school activities it would be fine but I'm a perfectionist when it comes to things that are interesting to me, which nearly all of the subjects are. This is good but also a problem because when i want to learn more, I can't because there is always more to do. On average i have about 3.5 hours of free time including dinner. This school has done wonders for my academics though. My rate of learning is growing exponentially and i quickly rose in the academic hierarchy. But if you're child is coming here from a public school they need to be ready for a HUGE change

We love Saint George's School for our 5 year old daughter. She went to kindergarten for the first 6 months at a public school and we noticed she was behind in almost every category. Upon placing her at Saint George she has grown remarkably in just the few months she has been there. We love Ms. Kathy and the parents are involved and committed to helping the students grow. The price tag is definitely worth it. You will not regret your decision.

After 15 years and two graduates of Saint George's School I feel I am qualified to give Saint George's an A+ rating. Both of our children were accepted at all the colleges they applied to but more importantly once they got there they were both WELL prepared for college and are excelling above and beyond their peers. Saint George's is a close knit community where your child is more than just a number! The curriculum is individually-challenging and strongly encourages "critical thinking", something that can not be achieved in the largely overpopulated classrooms of the public schools. Add caring teachers, extremely involved parents and a gorgeous environment to the mix and what you end up with are well educated kids ready to tackle the world and all it has to offer. No school is perfect but I strongly recommend St. George's to anyone in the Spokane area wanting more for their child.

I have attended 6th, 7th, and 8th grade at this school as a student, and the difference between it and the public school I attended in my grade-school years is astounding. Not only am I happy to finally be able to work at my own level, but Saint Georges offers a variety of opportunities not normally given at schools. I am able to experience teachers that care, have fun learning, and participate in a variety extra-curricular activities. Also, most of the students are well-mannered, respective, and very acceptant. I love Saint George's for its challenges in academics, sports, and personal growth. Students are pushed to work hard, at a level at which they are rapidly learning, but are not under or over-worked. It's an excellent colllege preporatory school and I am proud for having attended it even just for a couple years.

The Saint George's School website has facts or call Admissions at 509.466.1636 x 304. Teacher bios accompany admission packets. Regarding faculty turn-over, 19 teachers have left over the past five years. 15: relocated to advance their or their spouse's career, passed away, hired as a short term sub, or retired. 4, unfortunately, lost their job due to either a decline in enrollment in their specific subject area or for poor performance. 22 non-teaching members have left due to economic cut backs, career advances, retirement, re-location, or poor performance. Teacher s salaries are 93% of public school salaries. 39% of students receive financial aid. Over 1 million dollars goes to financial aid serving income levels <$30,000 to $160,000. Homework varies according to grade level and student ability; usually 2 hours for high school if study halls are not utilized. No one likes or can work with a parent and/or child who bullies. Bullying is not tolerated. Families are asked to leave regardless of income. Cheating is not tolerated. In reviewing the list of teachers who have left, I cannot figure out who would write the previous review leading me to believe it was falsely submitted.

,The sister of Bill Gates gave generously to inprove the staff salaries and buildings, but the teacher and staff turn over is outrageous. Many teachers do NOT have teaching certificates.. Putting 12 privileged, parent supported, entitled students together will naturally produce high test score anywhere. Your child is ensured entry to a private university but 3=4 hours of homework per night is the norm. Wealthly parents run the school, lots of pressure and bullying and unfortunately many students cheat.. After 5 years I left.. Teachers are bullied by parents, and not supported or paid well.

I have two kids at SGS. Both came from the public schools. The difference is pretty incredible. I notice it particularly in the types of homework they have. In public school, they had worksheets to fill out and that was about it. At Saint George's, the teachers give them projects, papers, and problem sets (in math). It takes them some time, but I think they are actually learning how to think about things, not just memorize. Also, they have great teachers, who care about them. Their teachers respond to our e-mails and phone calls almost immediately (it seems!). It's expensive, and that is hard, but is is so worth it for our family.

I have three children who attend or have attended SGS. The school does an outstanding job identifying each child's unique learning style and giving them a platform to succeed. My children were not gifted, but they have developed such strong study habits and critical thinking skills that they are scoring well on standardized tests. My college student is top in his class and spends much of his time helping those students who were not as well prepared for the rigors of a college curriculum. Saint George's School is a true college preparatory school!

Every child should feel as known, loved, and attended to as my child does at Saint George's. He gets to learn at his level in his way. Not to mention the amazing campus where the students are learning all the time. Check it out!!

St. George s is an amazing school. My children love to get up and go to school. The teachers take time with the children and know each individual and how they best learn. They offer opportunities to help children grow and develop the confidence needed to become successful adults.

Saint George's School has the top teachers in the region. Teachers know each child, pushes him or her to excel beyond expectations, and truly care. Kids here LOVE school! They love learning and they love their teachers. As parents, we can't imagine anything we would rather invest in than our children. We feel so fortunate that Spokane has this "hidden gem" for our family.
