This school really attempts to 'sell' you on a great opportunity for your child that offers more than a public school. However, they are extremely new. New teachers who cannot handle the classroom sizes they have. Not great for anything extracurricular. The Spanish offerings they teach kids are minimal and not a real value adds. Safety is lacking due to location, being centered in the middle of an apartment complex. I do not want strangers watching my kids all day. After hours, there is no security for pickup if there are events. Anyone can walk in through the back of the building. Bullying is a big issue here and the head of the school and assistant principals overstep their roles all the time. If issues arise, they will do everything in their power to create a fight with the parents in place of what is best for the child. Lots of parents in our inner circle have promptly left this school after the first year. Also be prepared to wait 30 minutes for drop up and pickups because of where the school is located, and you will be waiting on a busy street as they shuffle out kids one by one. Terrible overall. If you don't see Google reviews for a company, you should ask yourself, why?

We’ve had a wonderful experience with SIA! My daughter is academically challenged when needed and given support in areas that she needs extra help. Social Emotional Learning is integral to their curriculum and the staff care a lot about the students.

My experience was horrible. I am currently attending high school with a perfect gpa. No thanks to Spokane International Academy. For example, I learned chemistry in 8th grade and never took the basics of biology. This isn’t advanced; it’s stupid. They pride themselves in an advanced curriculum, but that’s all talk. The spanish program for example is solely based on a single textbook. In my experience, my teacher last year was cold and couldn’t teach. We went through half of what we were supposed to learn, and I had to take spanish 2 twice. All they care about is being inclusive, and their education pampers annoying kids. Absolutely horrible school.

Only giving 2 stars because we did have a few good teachers with us within the past 3 years. My daughter has experienced a pretty disappointing relationship with school. On the daily, my daughter would say how bad the kids were in class, and they were constantly getting in trouble. This went on for about 2 years. My daughter was hammered with how disappointing her class was. I to believe SIA is to blame with my daughter's struggle to open up.Another concern I had was I contacted the associate principal due to a complaint I had with a teacher. I never recieved an email back.I do believe this school does bring in more "troubled" kids, since its one of the only free alternative school option. My children have experienced being hit, or tackled. My step son attacked at a table, and was scratched on his face. When asked what happened, his teacher said "i didnt really see what happened.". We went through an incident where a parent that volunteered in the class, started rumors about my step son, and called CPS on us because we are a blended family, and that his mom was deployed in the military. Cps immediately closed the case, and told us they were going to set a meeting with the school to discuss the matter. The school struggles with low staff as well. Those poor office ladies are SO stressed, that instead of getting greeted with a smile, you are greeted with stress and frustration. My children started a new school today, and its night and day between the two schools. My daughter for once said "wow, everyone is so nice and no one got in trouble." How can that be the first comment my daughter makes? My children were having pretty bad anxiety about getting in trouble at SIA, than just being kids.

I switched schools from Pride Prep to SIA, and there were massive amounts of improvements, but like every school, it has its disadvantages. Their high school seems to be okay, definitely not the best because it is brand new, but there are a lot of leadership oppurtintes preparing students for the future, especially their public speaking skills. Their math program for switching students though is pretty terrible. I came in mid-year and i was taking Algebra 1 and they weren't teaching that for my grade level so they stuck me on a last-minute program that is terrible and confusing that is pretty terrible but I will get a teacher next year. I hope this helps.

The academics are way above average, yet the leadership from principles and coordinators are lacking.

In my OPINION this is the worst place you want to work for if you are not a teacher. While most administrative people make $50k and up, the bottom feeders make a miserable $1200 a MONTH. I am glad I am in a better place where my worth is valued and make triple the money. Could you support your family on $1200 a month .... in 2021? Don't do this to yourself. They get 1 star because at least SOME of the teachers take pride in what they do. Most 2nd grade students can't even read 'sight words' but they continue to pass them because all the school cares for is attendance numbers.

My child came to SIA from attending a District 81 elementary and the difference between the two schools are night and day. SIA is an extremely welcoming school community, they really do have high academic standards, and the curriculum is engaging. SIA has amazing communication and my child LOVES learning about other countries and cultures. I'm so grateful my child is learning Spanish and loving it. Also, as a parent I love the major emphasis on REACH values and the school wide morning meetings, every morning. The teachers and administration really do have the students best interest in mind and the teachers seem to genuinely enjoy their job, the kids and the school community. Also, in my experience the teachers and admin are warm, friendly, and are genuinely interested in parent feedback. This school really does appreciate parents who are wanting to be involved. My only regret is that we didn't apply for the enrollment lottery when my child was about to begin Kindergarten!
