The staff currently (2013-2017) at Greenbrae is incredibly difficult to deal with. The principal has a doctorate (of what is not quite clear) but she governs the school like a dictator. Every encounter with her I've overheard her openly discussing the schools finances with parents...I can only surmise she is hopeful that she will get additional grant and aid based on the school being a STEM, low income area federally and state funded however the students and parents/families don't reap any of the benifits of all of this funding. The staff puts the money towards things like matching cafeteria tables, multiple keurig coffee makers, interior paint and other such nonsense. All the while the children are struggling to read and write, complete simple mathematics and enhance comprehension. Art, music and field trips are Extremely limited if present at all. The fourth graders get a recorder. Before that there is nothing else to help children be children and express who they are. There is no balance of ability to learn and expression of thought in this elementary place of learning with clear knowledge of this by the staff. A blind eye is turned at the expense of the future generations. My two children attend this school. They hate it. The days are long and uneventful. They get bored and are repetitively asked to do the same lessons over and over. The new standardized tests are a full blown joke. I weep for my children's early education. The brutal irony is that I attended this same school thirty five years ago and graduated high school with honors with a 3.86 GPA and had a nearly full scholarship to a great college. My boys deserve better that what I had. They are NOT getting that at my alma mater.

i just left Greenbrae and I've been going there since 2006. Truly, it was not such a great School. the people that made the greatest impact on my education were my two sixth grade teachers, Mr.Fontes and Mr. Burns. The thing is is that most kids won't get the chance to get that great of an impact on their education because most kids move by then. If it were my choice I would make so that the standards are set higher and move in more male teachers because they are the ones making a bigger impact.

This school is far from great and really not even good. The teachers, although nice, are not that bright. They tend to allow the kids that are behind to run the class's curriculum. There is an overwhelming feeling of making sure the kids with little-to-no parent support get that support which is a good attribute if the other students aren't forgotten. But they are. My child came home multiple times telling me she was bored (kindergartner bored!?). All day kindergarten is a waste of time as well. I feel generous giving two stars.
