This school and the design, are ideally wonderful ideas. I can not say that all of the staff is one star because that would be wrong .But I will say with my recent experience with the handling of the disciplinary response to certain teachers Bullying and negatively handling there pre third grade children. It’s extremely disheartening and discouraging to know that a teacher in a school held so highly in the district is allowed to not help a child to grow and flourish mentally emotionally and educationally .When parents counselors and other teacher bring it to a principals attention! and all that is asked is for that child to be removed from that class and administrators choose to not do this because they don’t want to make waves with the teacher? Our children should matter and keeping them in and bullying them because you don’t like there parents is ridiculous. Be better

My son attended Kindergarten and 1st grade here. We are moving across the country, but I am so happy with the education he received here. We loved the focus on the arts, and the teachers are caring and really great at communicating with the parents to meet their child's needs. We wish we could continue at Elk Plain, but life is taking us elsewhere!

I absolutely love it. My daughter has bloomed at this school and the teachers have been absolutely amazing. Plus, Sam Maddox the school social worker is also amazing. The specialists the kids get is so diverse (dance, theater, science, musics). The only thing they need to work on involves their middle school. They don’t truly have gifted classes or advanced classes for middle school aged kids due to small class size. I plan to pull my daughter at 6th so she can get a truly advanced program offered by other middle schools in the district.

My Kindergartener has grown amazingly during his time here. He is reading, and has a love of math. He asked me to if he could learn computer coding at home (thank you code.org for your kid friendly website), and loves to show off his dance moves he learns in dance class. His social interaction is much more refined now as well. I am very happy with what I have seen in my son, and look forward to my daughter starting there this year.

The teachers and staff at this school are so friendly and the PTA team is fantastic. My daughter has only been attending this year but I have loved everything they are doing at this school.

The parents are what makes this school enjoyable. The principle is NOT engaging, with dishearten office staff. The teachers are focused on teaching to MSP. The children love it but as a parent, I would like the teachers to expect more from their students and offer challenges that would lead to greater success for future learning.

Good school for the lower grades but the teachers in the higher grades seem to be on auto pilot and don't assist the students. The principle really learns the families and works with parents to ensure the best possible out come for the children. The extra classes (music, art, dance and theater) are good and keep the kids engaged. One of the teachers goes out of her way to learn the children and keep them engaged, to the point that she helps them with homework before school even if they are not in her class. She will be missed as my children move on to middle school. If you stay involved with the teachers your children will have an amazing experience, if you choose to sit back and do nothing your children will not get the best out of it. Be prepared to go to many extra activities be it science fair, chocolates chimes and cheers, or plays every year but they are all fun.

Worst choice for my son. Teachers were not understanding. It was excuse after excuse about how they couldn't provide information on the weekly report. Grading was very subjective. Office staff was RUDE and condescending. It isn't a great school. I would rather have sent my child to his neighborhood school.

Both of my kids attended this school and I really appreciate the effort of the school to get the parents involved in their kids' education and activities. The reading program they have after winter break is a great program for the kids that offers incentive to read 1000 minutes. It really helps their reading levels improve drastically over the course of the 10 week challenge. The science and art program are top of the line.
