CCE is an amazing school. Mrs. Dial is an awesome principal. Teachers are so friendly and welcoming. I also sub there so I’m always there. They really care about their students education. My son is a first grader. We are sad to be leaving CCE bc my son will be going to 2nd grade next Fall. CCE is only pre-k, kinder & first grade. I highly recommend this school. In my honest opinion it’s the best school in Slidell, I should know, I sub and have been to many schools. Cypress Cove is the best. Happy mom, happy child! Happy, positive school! ;-)

Great school, great experiences for both of my children who went through 5 years apart. Ms. Dial, the principal is top notch. The only knock I have is that for my first child, the gifted program was fantastic, but by the time my second child got there, the state appears to be phasing the program out, cutting the funding, and reallocating the teachers.

I worked as a developmental psychologist with St. Tammany Schools for many years. I sent my own child through the Cypress Cove to Northshore High tract. For me, finding Cypress Cove Elementary school was heartwarming. It seemed the staff just had a sense of how to be effective with children and help them blossom. I have seen teachers elsewhere who made me think, "If you don't like kids, don't work at a school." At Cypress Cove, I found adults with admiration for young minds. The teachers were dedicated out of respect for their students, and the critical importance of the job teachers hold. They genuinely seemed to want the children to love coming to school. It was sometimes hard for me to have a somber moment in such an attractive, enthusiastic setting. Teachers were careful to present numerous activities for multiple learning styles. They appreciated that young children learn by acting on materials, not by sitting silently in desks. They had the courage to provide engaging hands-on lessons so children could invest. Cypress Cove looses a star from me for overcrowding classes. All the teaching skill in the world can't make up for adding several five-year-olds to a full class.

I have three children who have come through Cypress Cove at one time or another,(2010- 2014) currently one Cypress Cove, one at Honey Island and one at Little Oak. I have had different teachers with each child. I have had nothing but good things to say about this school, ethics, support staff, office staff, principal, and teachers. Keep up the Excellent work!

My daughters go to this school. I feel them do not have bulling under control and when I go to talk to them about it they act like it's no big deal. I do not like this school bc of this.

My son attended Cypress Cove this year as a kindergarten student and I truly wish I had another option. The classes have too many students to start with. His teacher was more interested in breaking his spirit than helping him learn. If your child is perfect, this is the school for you. But, they will not help any child who needs additional support and compassion. I tried to work with the teacher to help my child enjoy school but by years end, my son wanted nothing to do with school and had come to believe that he was a failure. Pretty serious feelings for a 6 year old. He cried and begged not to go because even the teacher made him feel bad about himself and then she allowed the other students to bully and harass my son. I am looking at other options because I believe one more year of this and his entire school future could be ruined. The principal has no interest in what a parents thinks or feels. They believe they know what is best for your child and will even lie to you just to get you to leave them alone.

TOO MANY students in one class...There is absolutely no way such young children are getting the attention they need. My oldest attended a different elementary school in the area, and the class sizes never went over 20.

My son and and I have had an incredible experience here. Being a single mom of an only child I was apprehensive but the office staff takes great care of not only my son, but me, too. I am greeted the same way I greet them (usually with a great smile and a "Hi! How are you today!"). Even with a class of 20 last year for K, his teacher did an excellent job and we are looking forward to this year in 1st grade. The principal, Lisa Dial, does an excellent job with children & parents alike! (Can you imagine having to learn & remember the names of hundreds of children?! She does it! In fact, the entire office staff does!!) I have found that the entire staff, including other teachers are so ready and willing to help and answer any questions I've had. I also had the privilege to volunteer at the school, help where I could, and get a peek behind the scenes. Everything they do is rather transparent and they welcome any help that is offered! I am so happy that my child has had the opportunity to attend this school and is in this school zone!

My grand-daughter attended Cypress Cove for P-K. She had an excellent teacher and has learned so much in this year. Principal enforces positive reinforcement. Love Cypress Cove

we have had a wonderful year at cypress cove! my boy has learned so much during kindergarten. He can even read chapter book now. Parents are very involved here and the teacher is positive to all kids. The front office lady was wired though, she rolled her eyeballs in her head when she saw me.

I really like the schools teaching staff and even though the student teacher ratio is not even remotely 13 I still feel like my T1 student is getting what she needs. She had a hard time in kindergarden and I feel like they did wonders with her. That being said I always dread going into the office. They are very rude and unwelcoming.

My son had a great year in this school .for a school this size -16 classes per grade- it's more organized than u thought. The class size is small-20 kids for 1st grade class.and they do have more resources when it comes to curriculum than small schools. Teacher is very attentive and actively communicating with parents.front desk ladies are strange that they think they can act like snobbish solialite and get paid.but that doesn't represent a school . I don't even know who is the principle but I still think this school has a good organizational culture. most teachers are kind and nice to kids and they are the ones opening the doors for the car line in the morning.

Disappointed... We heard wonderful things about this school. My child started kindergarten there this year. I'm not sure where they come up with the teacher-student ratio number of 13 because he is in a class of 22! I'm sure they receive funding based on this number and feel inclined to fudge a bit, but this is absurd. My daughter's kindergarten class in a public school in another state was just 17 students. At this age, just a few children can make a huge difference. The teachers are wonderful, but as a parent I can't imagine a class full of 22 5-6 year olds. Even the best teacher would be stressed and have a hard time teaching so many curious little minds. The office staff are obviously stressed as well, and not welcoming and friendly as they could/should be. This school has much potential, but due to overcrowding/understaffing, I fear it is becoming yet another victim of the poor economy. What a shame it is our children who suffer.

Allow me to share an instant with you. My daughter, who just turned 6 yrs 2 months ago, came back from school last week with a brilliant narrative about Safety instruction which she had just received. These are her words: Mom, they thought us to make sure that our parents place the computer in an open part of the house where moms can monitor what we do in the internet. We should not go clicking on things our parents don t want us to click on. While on the internet, if you get a question to enter your name, address, phone number, brother s name, mom or dad s name, do not answer!!! Report to an adult immediately. I WAS PLEASANTLY SURPRISED. Two thumbs up and thanks for caring and connection.

This is a good school with a good teaching staff. I have had no problems scheduling meetings with the teachers and principle/assistant principle. The downfall(s) would be that the office staff is short with parents, and often give the "it's on this list...or right outside" attitude. I would like to see more smiling faces and the willing to help a parent when I have to go to the office to ask a question instead of the ole' finger directing me some place else. Also, the school accomodates too many students and I can see where parents can often get frustrated because the lack of aids and too many students to a teacher, especially if you have a student that requires the extra attention. Otherwise, a good, competitive school.

Lovely school with energetic, smart teachers. Many families seek to live in this district (it goes on to Honey Island for 2-3 grades), including many military families such as ourselves. Competitive with Mandeville schools and area private schools. Violin lessons, musical theatre, character programs, involved parents, lovely staff.

It is a wonderful school! My children have excelled from the education they have received at Cypress. The teachers have been exceptional and there is always learning and fun occurring at Cypress Cove. I could not have been happier with my children's education.
