Where do I start? Administration is a huge problem. The "we grew up together" mentality is hurting this school. The majority of the staff and Administration graduated from JR together. This keeps Administration from holding staff accountable. Not to mention the superintendent acts like the president of the United States. He is totally unapproachable and refuses to hear or recognize any problems he is presented with. The teachers just don't teach. The whole system is baffling to me. The Texas Board of Education really needs to investigate. Students grades are bumped up to passing rather than earning their grade. Students do assignments from text books day after day without ever actually being taught by a teacher on the subject. These people just don't care anymore. The high school and middle school need to take pointers from the elementary! The teachers are great there and care about those kids. It's like two different world's on the same campus. James Bowie High School and Middle School is doing our kids an disservice. Those kids aren't getting a proper education. The whole district needs a revamp. Teachers need to go...administration needs to go...bring people in that care about their jobs! Please, bring teachers in who want to teach! The athletic program is a focus to this school yet they can't win a game! The coaches answer to no one...why? How can coaches be reprimanded by administration when administration is a coach? How can we set a moral standard for our coaches when administration in among the worst. Please, if you care about your kids education, take them somewhere else.

Great school, experienced administration, and knowledgeable caring teachers. They have great athletic programs, a top tier agriculture program, and their state test scores, as much as I despise standardized test, have been great for years.

Great school, great spirit, amazing educators, and an awesome administration and school board. I am a graduate of James Bowie and I am now working on my Masters in Education. There is no doubt that I would love to return to JB as a teacher and invest in the schools already bright future. The students there have so much potential, but so many of them don't see it because they think to themselves "well i'm just an ol Simms boy, college isn't for me." The thing is that higher education is available for everyone no matter who you are or where your from, and that's what we need to get into these kids heads. In the past five years the administration has really stepped up and made some great changes. I hope they keep up the good work.
