Dual language school with a diverse student population served by a staff that is positive, nurturing, and committed to student success. Very involved home/school community. Test scores published by Zillow do not reflect the strengths of this school given the large percentage of students for whom English is not their first language.

This school has more drama than any other elementary school in the county. There are many parents who will drive their kids to other schools outside of their neighborhood to avoid this school. There is poor leadership. Yes, some people like the new principal, but that's only because the one before her was a homewrecker. So, comparatively, that's not hard to beat. Some of the preschool staff are not certified to be teaching preschool.

Silverthorne Elementary is a great school! The school is small and the new principal is very engaged with the kids. My son's teacher was fabulous too! She pushed kids individually, no matter where the class was academically as a whole. Class sizes are very small, which I think is such a privilege and fosters that individualized attention. The facility is newer which is nice too. There is lots of space in and out for everyone and for growth. The school is small and has a diverse population. I would recommend this school and I'm a picky parent. The only cons I experienced are: 1- there could be more parent-teacher communication on a regular basis, and 2- the parent/teacher organization needs some help with more parents involved, more advertising, more fundraising, etc. My son later attended a 9/10 school due to a temporary move, and Silverthorne Elem was hands down a better school than that one! Don't always base your opinions on test scores alone... investigate further. Good job SVE! Keep it up- us locals appreciate it!
