My daughter has been through a lot over the past several years and she was so excited to start at Flora Singer when we moved down here 2 years ago. She's been at the school now since 3rd grade. She has a slight ADHD and has a hard time staying focused however ALL of her teachers thus far have been great! Also as said in other reviews Mr. Heatwole has been very good with communication on all and any situations that have happened in the school.

We have three children at Flora Singer and are extremely happy with the school. They work hard to create a feeling of community among parents, teachers, and students. Every single teacher we have had has been great. My students are given instruction based on what they need and challenged appropriately. There is an excellent music and art program, and teachers go above and beyond to provide extra opportunities for kids to learn and engage in activities.

This is a phenomenal school and completely underrated at 7/10. We have twins who attended kindergarten here and were fortunate to have experienced two fantastic teachers that had different teaching styles but still were highly effective. The administration does a good job to balance the classrooms and were engaging throughout the year. The school communicates through newsletters, blogs and email to go along with traditional conferences and parent teacher nights which kept us current on our kid's progress. We also appreciated the diversity of the community that brought so much variety to their education. Lastly the counselors for kids after hours (KAH) are gems that go beyond traditional institutions. We could not have been more lucky and wish them all the best.

This is a great school. Having moved from a 9/10 school district in Boston, Flora Singer by far is better.

A wonderful staff and an excellent principal. Mr. Heatwole, the teachers and administrative staff all work together to make the school a warm, safe and welcoming place. My son loves his kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Lim, and loves to go to school everyday! Flora Singer ES is an awesome place for children to learn, play and grow!

Our son is in his third year at Flora Singer, and we continue to be very pleased with the school. The facility itself is a beautiful and stimulating environment for learning. The staff is talented, enthusiastic and engaged. The teachers and especially the principal are also incredibly responsive to the parents. High marks all around!

I agree with the previous poster - the hand-picked staff and teachers are outstanding. Mr. Heatwole was able to pick the best teachers to start fresh in this beautiful new facility. He is also proactive about addressing problems. He communicates clear with families and is responsive. There were concerns over unhealthy snacks at lunch and he removed them from the cafeteria. My child's teachers have been caring and compassionate. She loves going to school. Her younger sibling is entering Kindergarten this year and is most excited about "meeting my teacher." No anxiety at all. Mr. Heatwole is a wonderful leader - firm and compassionate, but also full of playful energy at community events. I actually completely disagree that there is not enough challenge. On InView tests my daughter is in the 98-99th percentile across the board. She is learning and being challenged in math, reading and writing. The arts programs are also terrific. The PTA is strong and active and there is a tightly knit community. We love this school. It's a reason we are considering adding on to our home, as opposed to moving to a new one. Consider total # of reviews when looking at the average rating.

I'll have to agree with this is statement by another parent. It is 100% accurate... "This is a school where most of the school resources is reserved for struggling student. We tried repeatedly to get more challenging material for our child but was left discouraged and basically giving lip service by everyone including the principal. It is unfortunate because it is a beautiful school Submitted by a parent" School does not push the students beyond the bare minimum requirement. The students don't even have spelling tests!!

We have 2 kids at Singer and think it is a fantastic school. The building and surroundings are beautiful and the hand-picked staff are thrilled to be there. In just 2 short years, the PTA has done an amazing job of organizing great activities like book fairs, movie nights and talent shows. Teachers do a wonderful job of teaching to kids of varying levels and offering enrichment activities for kids who can handle an extra challenge. Nothing but great things to say about this school. Go Sea Turtles!

This school is fantastic! Beautiful facility, fantastic staff, wonderful, active PTA. The students are most definitely challenged. We have an older child in one of the HGC centers and decided to have our younger child stay at Singer where he is thriving and receiving a great education.

My son transferred from Oakland Terrace in 2012 when Flora Singer opened. The facility is fantastic, with a arboreal setting that is second to none in this area. Everything is new and modern - the play equipment, library, and all the classrooms have the latest in technology. Mr. Kyle Heatwole, the principal, selected an outstanding staff. The teachers are very well supported by the administration. They work hard to foster a caring and socially concerned culture. We feel our son is receiving a first-rate education that is individualized to his strengths and weaknesses. If I have one complaint, the access to and from the campus is difficult due to the location at the end of a small residential street.

The school is brand new (so it has beautiful facilities), has a well organized PTA, great teachers, and a wonderful, diverse and supportive community surrounding it.
