This school needs to eliminate the word Christian from its name because favoritism and hypocrisy are valued. If you are an alumni parent, then your child is valued. Those not from Georgia are treated as outsiders. The school rules aren’t consistent. Certain kids, such as varsity football players can do whatever they want and face no consequences. That is not the case for other non, athletic students. There is also nepotism in hiring. If you are an alumni, have a family member who works there or you coach, it doesn’t matter how bad you teach, they will hire you over a more experienced person. There is also payola. Teachers post all over social media partying with parents , at the parents’ expense, for example a suite at UGA games, and then turn around and post how the children of these parents are their favorites. How does any of this reflect the Bible’s teachings? It doesn’t so if you are looking for a true Christian education this is not the school. Academics are just okay. Forget about any compassion or grace, especially for absences. The arts are not appreciated. Football is the highest priority, even recruiting players, giving them scholarships and allowing them to break rules. This year’s senior Football players are covered in tattoos and they flaunt them, despite the school handbook saying they need to be covered. The language the players use and even some coaches is anything but Christian. This school puts on a good image, but it is just culturally Christian, and doesn’t promote an environment modeled after Jesus. It really is sad how toxic the environment is at this school and how not Christian it really is.

Both sons graduated from SCPS. They went on to college and were above college level. The counselors were great in assisting with college preparation beginning in 9th through senior year. The school's traditions are great for creating long-term friendships.

SCPS currently has new administrators who are doing so much to improve our school. They are addressing issues that were ignored for many years and making great improvements to our facilities, staff, and our chapel program. My favorite change has been in chapel- they have set up our gym like a worship center complete with live music and arranged for effective engaging speakers to lead our students on various relevant topics. Our high school principals "pranked" the seniors this year by taking them out of class on their last day, feeding them lunch, having outdoor games, and then praying over them before they left campus. Our headmaster has taken care of long neglected areas of our campus while also making needed updates to our policies and curriculum. He has made huge improvements in our safety by installing a beautiful new fence with a gate and we now have school officers in place.Our new administrators genuinely care about our students, both spiritually and academically, and are implementing innovative new programs. I feel myself full of hope as I look ahead to our school's future.

SCPS has been an outstanding school for my children. I have been very pleased with the direction of the school over the past few years. They truly are “developing the whole child to the glory of God.” I feel the Christian aspect of our name is back! You can tell the spiritual Growth of each child is of upmost importance to the faculty and staff. Knowing Christ is #1. The campus is beautiful, the pride and school spirit have been revived. My children have had great academic success with rigorous courses, high ACT/ SAT scores yielding scholarships and acceptance to top tier universities. I highly recommend this school.

Reflecting back on our choice to send our child to Savannah Christian, I would not do it again. I would find a better alternative! My daughter's high school experience was eye-opening -- this school does not value academics. A huge problem is their reliance on Point University to lead "dual enrollment" course. Problematically, these courses are incredibly easy and do little to position students for competitive college admissions or college success. Unfortunately, we did not realize this until our daughter applied to more competitive universities, like UGA. While my daughter had good grades throughout her time at SCPS, she was not accepted at any of the aspirant universities she applied to. So, I started looking at the admission statistics for good in-state schools, like UGA and Tech. In general, the UGA admission rate is about 55% and Tech is about 30% for in-state students. When my daughter graduated in a class of about 100 students, less than 10 students were admitted to UGA and 2 were admitted to Tech. I am hearing similar admission rates for this graduating year. Sadly, this school is not effectively preparing students to place at competitive universities. Though a public school, I encourage you to consider Savannah Arts -- they do emphasize education!

Savannah Christian is the only school my daughter has ever known. She has been here since she was 3 and started in the Daycare/preschool. She has been through the Lower School from PK-5, and is now in the Middle School in 7th grade. Over all we have been very pleased with SCPS, teachers, faculty and staff. The new Headmaster is wonderful! My daughter still comes back to the lower school to see her teachers and get advice or help with homework and the teachers are willing to help her. Now that LS, Middle and High are on one big campus together it is such an amazing scene. The new cafeteria service is with "Valley Foods", the students are able to get a variety of food. From breakfast to lunch and snacks in between. SCPS even has a coffee/smoothie bar. Parents come and feel welcome to hang out or have meetings. This school has it all and for a better price than other private schools in Savannah. Best of all....you can talk about GOD, you can pray and say the pledge!! Our family will be RAIDERS for life!

No one seems to know what is going on. The lines of communication are shut down all day long. If you are a parent who wants to drop your child off and forget about everything, this is the school for you. You will be in the dark all of the time. The administration at this school is a dictatorship, and this makes it necessary to keep people uninformed. If no one knows what is going on, including the staff, it is easy to keep all of the power in one place.

SCPS is an excellent school. I recommend a child spend a day at SCPS to get a feel for it. She/He will want to make Savannah Christian their school. Lower, Middle and Upper Schools are all outstanding. One of my children is in Middle School now and the Middle School (campus on E. DeRenne Ave.) is amazing. The transition to Middle School was made comfortable by the school. The Principal and the Teachers know all the children by name, they are always looking out for the child and are dedicated to helping each child develop to his/her full potential. I can't say enough good things about SCPS, the Middle School and the positive experience that we have had for six years, now. GO RAIDERS!

We have three children at SCPS (1 at Chatham Pkwy and 2 at Derenne) and could not be happier. The mix of a Christian education and top notch academic curriculum are exactly what we want for our children. As for the person who said there is nothing for gifted children, there are accelerated and honors classes as early as middle school. My daughter's 7th grade accelerated math class is equivalent to 10th or 11th grade work. If you have any doubt just look at the schools that SCPS grads get accepted to. I realize it isn't cheap but if you put your child's education as a priority then I highly recommend that you at least check out SCPS.

Lower School Chatham Parkway Campus: Too many kids in each class, too many women teachers and faculty, lack of ability to inspire students. Not worth the money! Had a child at SCPS for most of his lower school education. A LOT of homework & parents have to be a large part fo the learning process, which is good! BUT,some of the teachers & administration act really snobby, & nothing but women in the lower school makes it hard to control rambunctious boys (and makes it a little caddy too). Took my child out and put him in Pooler Elementary for 5th grade. Actually had one of the staff tell me that SCPS may not be the place for him (even though he made straight A's)because I asked them to help him remember to bring the books home he needed to for homework. I called a conference about it & made a big stink out of her terrible choice of words. After that, it was almost as if he was targeted. Pooler Public School had Smaller class sizes, a para-pro in with the teacher,staff that truly cared, loved their jobs,&inspired their students. If I had to do it all over again, I'd save the money I spent at SCPS. He met some great friends and had a 'some' great teachers but not enough.

Having graduted from SCS myself there was no doubt in my mind where my children would attend school. I have 2 children that attended SCPS from K - 12th grades. Not only does SCPS provide an excellent college preparatory curriculum it also provides a Christian environment. I highly recommend this school.
