These people put an autistic child in a plywood box and called it a “cool down box”. WTOC has the article! DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT SEND YOUR BABY HERE!!!

I have never been so happy to go to work! My administration is helpful and supportive. My coworkers are invested in the success of our students and focused on literacy. The parents are so involved. It's exciting to see the fine arts K-5 at Heard Elementary: Theater, Music, French, PE, Maker Tech, Art, Band, Chorus, and after-school tutorial, and Wonder Why Clubs. STEAM is always going on! We have gardens, chickens, and so many field trips. Our school is a special treasure.

Major bullying and favortism problem in this school and its administration. My daughter has had the same bully for a year and a half now. No consequences no repremands nothing for this child. While she continually harrasses my child and makes her hate school every day. It's sickening how a childs social standing and who their parents know reflect so much on behaviour problems. And this school CONTINUALLY sweeps it under the rug. Run as fast as you can from this school. May Howard and marshpoint are much better alternatives.

This school has a major issue with dealing with bullying and looking at these reviews from years ago that are almost identical to my Childs experience, it seems nothing has changed even with the change of administration. I've had issues with rude teachers, no call backs after incidents, no call backs after asking to speak with high ups, etc

This school does a great job of providing quality education to students. The teachers and administrators do the best with the materials they have and are a fine example of quality educators.

My son was having a lot of behavioral problems prior to beginning heard and I told the teacher at the time what strategies to do to help him however she did not and my son's behavior only increased being there. Since attrnding heard I would get a phone call a day to come pick him up, which is hard to do because of work. His teacher was rude and did something very foul to set my son up to be withdrawn from the school. And even though I straightened it out and was able to allow him to go back to Heard, I would not because of his teachers actions and how the administrators never tried to help.

My daughter went to this school for third grade and the teacher was mean to my child and did not know how to set aside how she personally felt about my child to herself. She always emailed me about pity stuff about what she do daily. They were going to suspend my child from school for the dumbest reason. This school is too dramatic all together.

The attitudes of the staff leave much to be desired. Children should be greeted warmly at the start and end of the day. School should be a place of learning and enrichment, not a reformatory. Even the kindergarten teachers are burnt out, it's time to re-train the staff. If educators can't at least feign interest in the quality education of the students they should be fired immediately. The sort of apathy displayed here makes it easy to see why there are so many private schools in the area.

My autistic son went to this school for a year. After repeatedly telling them my son need consent supervision because if he goes to the bathroom by himself he would eat soap, play in the trash can and ply in the bathroom. They still allowed him to wonder around the school by himself. The school doesn't have very much security. After they caught my son coming back from the bathroom chewing they assume he was eating out of the trash can and called DFCS or Child Protective service and told them I wasn't feeding my child. This happened in 2012. I had a plenty of food and my son is the correct weight for his height. If your child autistic keep them away from this school because the school has little knowledge about autistic kids. Long story short DFCS didn't find my kid was starving just the school was not supervising him enough.

Amazing opportunities for the students not offered at the other local schools. Fantastic teachers that really care about their students and want to see them succeed, while also loving them. A general sense of family here.

My daughter attends and overall we are very happy with her teachers and the program at Heard. My one complaint, they need to get rid of Dorothy Bland. She is one of the nastiest people I have met!!

ms satcher is one of the best. Coming from the number one state for education. I would easily, without doubt, list her amoung the best. Not only is she a wonderful teacher, but she cares about each student and goes out of her way to taylor the acedemics for each child.

We took our daughter out of a private school and placed her at Heard for financial reasons. We heard great things about Heard elementary- great principal. Well, the principal left and a new one came. It has been a long and trying year. My daughter is a straight "A" student but cries and says she wants to go back to her old school. The students are unruly and there is definately no comparison to a private school education so far. Also, my daughter has learned things that she really shouldn't at her age. I hope it gets better!

My grandchild has been going to heard since she was in the 1st grade. Her teachers Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Newsome are awesome teachers. If only heard could go through 12th grade. She would still be there. Please lets not forget about Mr. Heater the principle. He is the greatest

As this school year is coming to a close I am so glad that this was my choice for my children. I have hope again in public schools. Mrs. Molz is a great kindergarten teacher and Mrs. Odom is a great 2nd grade teacher. (if anyone was wondering)

After much deliberation between private and public school in Savannah, we decided to give Heard's Advance Learning Academy a try. I am so glad we did! My son is in Kindergarten this year and has loved every minute! I have been very pleased with his teacher and his progress this year. Heard offers strong academics as well as strong special subjects! Highly recommend! We are staying and looking forward to enrolling my second child in a few years!
