If you are looking for a middle school for your child, do not send your child to this school. Rio Seco JH has some very good teachers, however, the students are deplorable. There is a lack of moral character that is widespread among the students and how they treat each other. There is a lack of human decency among the students that is disturbing. I don't know if it's a sign of the times or a widespread issue with this area, but the students are not being raised to have empathy, kindness, and respect for other people. It's disturbing the amount of cyberbullying that goes on as well as a lack of human decency.

We have had nothing but issues with insufficient teaching since kindergarten at Rio Seco. We went from being at a different school in santee where our child was assessed as being above average and able to go early into TK two 3 years of having to constantly monitor our child's learning so much so that she has regressed to barely being able to read and write in 2 years according to the teachers current assessment. Teachers at Rio Seco just don't seem to care about student learning outcomes. The school is so large that the teachers are basically able to hide and be lazy. Unless you have the time to be at school with your kid as a room aid or monitor and then go home and teach them yourself, your kid will not be properly educated there.

I am very impressed with the values this school passes on to its children. Both the staff and the parents are extremely committed to the child's experience at the school and are committed to their student's success. We couldn't be happier with Rio Seco!

My 2 grandchildren grow a little every day at Rio Seco. Next year another will start attending there. I wish all 7 of my G-Kids could go there as well. The more parents are involved, the better the experience for their children. I'm so glad that the moms and dads of my grandchildren take an active role in their children's education. I also love to volunteer in their classrooms (I know they love it too)!
