This is our 4th year at Village - our family has two children attending there. We commute from outside the district boundaries and chose the school for its diversity and good reputation and rigorous academics. We have not been disappointed. The Kindergarten teachers (and assistants) are truly the best, I cannot say enough about them. They set my kids up for success. All three Kindergarten teachers are outstanding: caring, kind, nurturing, knowledgeable, willing to listen to and work with parents and always welcoming of parent volunteers in the classroom. Some of the veteran teachers have retired, but the newer teachers are very capable. Many of the retired veteran teachers sub for the school, so even on sub days you know your kids are in excellent hands.About bullying: it's an issue at every school, the question is how does the school deal with it. My oldest child had issues with bullying two years ago. When I brought this to his teacher's attention, she dealt with it in the very same day (the bully was her former student, so she worked with the student as well as the current teacher) and we've had no more instances since. That is exactly what you want a teacher to do, to nip it in the bud. The principal is willing to listen to parents and try new things. For example you'll find that students walk laps in the morning before instruction. This sure sounds and looks weird at first, but when you realize that this completely cuts down on negative student confrontations, and students still get to socialize, and has many health benefits - it's rather a good plan.Village has an awesome science program from Kindergarten up, and many programs like band, GATE, Odyssey of the Mind, volleyball, etc. There are also many grassroots community events such as Storyteller Night, the Multicultural Festival, Talent Show, Dance Night, and more. Village is a close-knit and caring community and a wonderful school, highly recommended.

My child has been at Village school for 5 years. During this time he has had the best teachers all of whom demonstrate confidence, competence and enthusiasm for teaching. I have been able to develop a good parent-teacher relationship with all of his teachers in order to work together to best support his individual needs. The new principal who stared this school year is very proactive and responsive to issues and problems. She has a zero tolerance to bullying and misbehavior. She means what she says and follows through. It is a very diverse school with opportunities for everyone to participate in something that suits their interests from music and performing to athletics or multi cultural activities and much more. There are lots of opportunities for parents to be involved from volunteering in the classroom to serving on an activity committee. We love Village school!

We have been at Village for 5 years and while there were a couple of years that were challenging, things have really changed around with the new principal this year. The discipline is now consistent and appropriate so that behavior issues in the classrooms are way down and kids are showing respect to adults and to others. The current principal is always willing to discuss any issues and has great follow through. She is supportive to the teachers and listens to parent feedback then makes necessary changes. This school is a wonderfully diverse community and has many after school community events that build community and are fun for families. The teachers are dedicated and the morale seems to have increased this year. The kindergarten program at Village is amazing and one of the best in the county for being developmentally appropriate , engaging and fun! We are proud to be Village Eagles!

We have a son and daughter that attend(ed) Village. It has really gone down hill. As another reviewer wrote, there is no discipline structure. Kids can (and do) get away with a lot more than they should. It is not the fault of the teachers, it comes from the administration, i.e.: principal. "Love the shoes, Clarice." When the kids are sent to her office, it's free time, no work for little Bobby, and no consequences. BTW, you are never quite sure who the teachers are going to be from one year to the next. Hmmm, I wander why? Drive down the road a little, it all trickles down. Time for a change, RVUSD.

My two kids have been attending this school for three years and I have liked every single teacher they've had. Love this school.

There has been so many changes in the last few years and not positive changes. There is no effectual response to discipline problems. Teachers, as hard as they work, do not get back up when needed. The morale of the staff is extremely low. The students know that they will not be held accountable for their actions. It is sad. There are so many wonderful teachers and staff that love the students and if administration would step up, maybe the school could get back to being proud.

Three kids through Village and our youngest just started middle school leaving us 3/3 having thrived in middle school because of being prepared well. If we had a do-over, we would happily choose Village again.

I can not rave enough about this amazing school! We transferred into the school from another district and feel blessed to be a part of the school community. The Principal is dynamic, invested, focused and caring. The Teachers are superb. BUT, my FAVORITE thing about Village is the diversity! The families of Village truly represent the best of America: they stem from many backgrounds but are all focused on a successful and prosperous future for their children. A++++++++++

Our school has experienced some challenging situations which have been blown out of proportion thru the use of social media. I, for one, wish to express my heartfelt support for the teachers, staff, and principal at Village Elementary. We all want the same things for our children; a safe learning environment and a quality education. Let's look forward to a great year, and do whatever we can to support our children, and our school.

My son has received an outstanding education with an emphasis on reading and math. He has had quality teachers. He loves the science and the science lab. The leadership is effective and fair.

My two daughters currently go to Village. We, too, had difficulties with the previous crazy principal, but luckily for us, she is gone and a new principal is there. She seems to be doing a great job. The teachers there really do care about your kids and offer them a chance at a good education/experience. Not to say that there aren't some exceptions to that, either...there are a couple of poor ones (but I think you'll find that everywhere).
