We couldn't be happier. Wish all kids had the opportunity to be in such a supportive and well rounded environment.

Love Edison. Learning spanish has given my daughter so much confidence. I have a great deal of respect for the teachers that we have had (Tejeda (1st) and Meade (K)) - they care deeply for their kids. They are patient, hard-working and treat the children with respect. The school has its flaws. but on the whole it is a wonderful community to be a part of. A diverse group of parents and kids and almost everyone is invested in making the best of it.

Wonderful school, great community. Amazing teachers. Kids really are learning Spanish. I have been disillusioned by the principal, but otherwise a wonderful school.

This is an amazing school -the teachers, the principal, the students and the parent community are fantastic. I feel very fortunate my children are being taught and given the gift of two languages in such a culturally rich and diverse environment, which represents the culturally rich and diverse community we live in. Parent involvement and commitment to supporting the children and teachers makes for a great learning environment, but also provide a great safe extended supporting community. I feel that my children are getting a fantastic education and getting prepared in both academics but also in citizenship. They are becoming citizens of the world.

The school is overall really great. The kids do learn Spanish. The teachers coordinate what will be taught, so all kids have access to the same major projects. There is a decent mix between skill-building and project-based lessons. P.E. is provided on a daily basis. Extra help is provided to kids who need it because parents volunteer in classrooms. There are many after school activities available. I have more than one child in the school. Kids in some grades are a better mix of personalities than others -and some teachers are stronger than others, but that's the case in any school.

Edison school is a wonderful and friendly small school providing immersion bilingual education in Spanish. The teachers have amazing enthusiasm and drive to give the children a quality bilingual education. The level of commitment is especially inspirational considering the modest pay of a public school teacher. (The only weak spot is the very occasional teacher who is not so much bad, but rather burnt out.) It is amazing that the children end up speaking fluent Spanish. However, make no mistake that for English speaking families, the bilingual education does not come without a fair amount of determination and commitment. However, our family thought the life long benefits of bilingual thought and cognition were well worth the effort. But be prepared for some confusing and arduous homework sessions! The community of parents are warm and welcoming. And the principal, Lori Orum, is the heart and soul of the school. An amazing woman. Edison is a fantastic school, equal to any public or private school in the nation.

I don't understand what the school is trying to teach its students. The way they grade papers is not helpful to a young student's self Esteem. They give quizzes and tests that are only 4-7 problems. When my son made one simple mistake and one problem he didnt understand which make 2 wrong, he gets a D!!?Children are just starting to form an opinion about school And about what kind of student they are; this view of their self will carry them through the tougher Adolescent years. If they are a D student because of educators errors they won't feel they are competent enough to get through more difficult subjects ahead. Meanwhile as strict as it is in the classroom, there is fowl language, racism, and physical violence out on the playground, which I've been told by my sons, is ignored by the yard employees.

Edison Elementary Language Academy is a great school. It is a dual immersion school where all the students learn to understand, read, write, and speak in both English and Spanish. It has a wonderfully diverse student body and huge parent involvement. It is a school of choice, so everyone who is there, is there because they want their child(ren) to have the benefits of a dual language program. My second grade daughter loves Edison. The teachers are wonderful and the principal is outstanding. Edison is so much more than simply a school. It is a community, filled with a wide array of families, teachers, and staff that are passionate and committed to providing all children with an academically rigorous and culturally stimulating school experience.

The gift Edison gives our children cannot be measured - the mental flexibility to think in two different languages from kindergarten on. And the sense of community is wonderful.

Our older son went to Edison as is in 6th grade at JAMS now. His Spanish is wonderful and he can read practically anything in English or Spanish. Our older son is in 1st grade and getting tremendous added value out of the bilingual curriculum. For both of them, learning in 2 languages has helped them refine listening skills and requires them to think more before they answer questions. Edison is a wonderful school with outstanding teachers.

We LOVE Edison. My daughter is in 2nd grade and can read, write, and converse in Spanish, in spite of her parents not speaking the language at all. The community of staff, families and students is beautiful and dedicated to the goal of having a great education experience for all the children. Everyone here feels lucky to be here. The principal is the very best, she is an amazing communicator and you can see her pride in the school and children at every event, because she attends them all.
