The only reason they have 2 stars is that there are good people who work here. But they have the most dysfunctional and abusive special education system I have ever been cursed with. But with people like the director of special education who could care less it’s no surprise.

My child is Autistic and they put my son on a modified schedule because they cannot handle him. He's getting less than 4hrs of a school a day. I requested my son be transferred to a different school that could accommodate him and 2 wks later I'm still waiting for a call. The teacher and principal says that the modified schedule has made him worse, but yet they will do nothing about it. He's even regressed at home. I have put a call into the district already and contacted the Orange County Board. I do not recommend this school in any way for special education. They have failed to meet my sons needs.

First of all BULLYING IS A HUGE PROPLEM kids will never mention it to there parents (Often) and bad langue and cuss words are almost used among kids and also this year one of the 5th graders was touching someone. They told the teacher and the teacher said this (student in my class) "Not my problem I do not ride the bus. Which kinda made me mad but it was if I said something i would get benched propel.

The new(ish) principal is out of touch with teachers and actual needs of the classroom. She's the very definition of a phony Administrator, with good teachers who speak up transferred out or leaving. I have two children here, and in the years we have been here, I've never been more sad and disappointed in the choices of the school than now. Why is the principal at an elementary school if she seemingly doesn't care about what's best for the children? She cares about how she looks to the district. Please leave Fairhaven.

I know covid affected all schools but wow I have never put in a request for a transfer any faster. If you have the means to send your child elsewhere please do. There are some really great public schools out there and our kids deserve better then this. Very poor communication from the staff as far as whats going on and the secretary or office manager is just ghetto. I’m not sure about the teachers since my child is fairly new I’m sure they are all trying their best and it’s hard for them during these times but still I see other schools handling this situation way better.

Overall, I think this is a good school and the teachers strive to teach the students. When my son was in K, I walked into the classroom and saw Mrs. Doyle working one-on-one with my child as she helped him work on his letter formation. I really appreciate that she took the time to give him that extra attention. The teachers reach out with concerns and tips on how we as parents can help our children at home. My only concern is the bullying. My son has had issues with bullying and I've had to address them several times to the teachers. In 4th grade my son became depressed due to the bullying and I had to take him to see a psychologist. Fortunately, it helped him and when he transferred to 5th grade the depression slowly disappeared because he says he had a great teacher and all the bullies were in another class. I had another parent tell me her son was bullied because he had long hair and she also had to speak to his teachers several times over this. Fairhaven needs to really work on implementing anti-bullying strategies for the mental health and socio-emotional welfare of their students.

I am giving Fairhaven 2 stars not because it is a bad school but because of the closed minded parents who hinder the progression of this school. Granted there are some great teachers in with the no so great teachers but a school can not grow without everyone working together. The office staff is helpful and with the new principle change is slowly happening.

It's a good school and some good teachers but some teachers get to involved in students and parents business to much. The secretary is very rude towards the parents she gives to much attitude. Also the secretary feels like if she was principal of the school and try's to do things that don't correspond to her and yells at the students way to much infront of the parents, which to me I feel it's very disrespectful.

To begin with the secretary is very rude. To many absences from the principal and mostly the secretary is just bad (Alicia) she yells at the students way to much like if they were some kind of animals. And has no education or respect towards other parents. Therefore I believe the school as a whole will be better off if the secretary would go elsewhere because she causes to much problems between parents and teachers.

the only reason why I gave Fairhaven 4 stars is because the Secretary is so RUDE , and no matter how much her behavior is brought up to the principal or the OCSD it does not change. She is also very loud to the kids while they are in their lunch break, I have been there when all this takes place there is no need to scream at the kids
