My daughter attended for one year. It’s okay; safe and adequate. There were some things I did not like. There were several instances that a substitute teacher told a kid to “shut up”. I reached out to Principal Windish by email 3 times and never was responded to by him. After the 3rd email, someone I cc’d had replied and said the teacher apologized to the students, but my daughter said that didn’t happen. It didn’t appear to be a big deal to them. Pros, the front desk staff is so kind. The teacher my daughter had was kind. No school projects or events or family participation for the whole year though. There was one field trip but we were told about it the morning of, no info sent home ahead of time, so she didn’t go. Overall it was adequate, no big issues. The staff that handle carline do an incredible job! It was very efficient and quick.

My student is a SPED rising 2nd grader. In our first year (kindergarten) I was very excited about the school. The leadership (Principal Herdon) was exemplary she was all of the things you would want leadership to be; responsive, communicative & collaborative. However, the leadership changed in 2021/2022 and the school is not the same. This is the second year and I'm looking to see if it will be better this year.

I attended this school as a student, and now have friends that teach at this wonderful school! The teachers that are their at the moment really try to get the best resources for their students, bring their best attitudes to the classroom, and really love the work that they do.

We have been at Wicklow since Kindergarten in 2016. Our child is now in 2nd grade. As a previous reviewer mentioned, we were skeptical about sending our child there bc of test scores, ratings etc. I don't believe it is a "rough part of the neighborhood" but I suppose that is subjective. Because it is a Title 1 school they do have many more resources that other schools do not. Our child has thrived at Wicklow. He has made great friends and has had amazing, thoughtful and caring teachers in each grade. Granted we have not had any issues with teachers or students that needed to be addressed so I can not comment of how such issues are resolved. I am on campus occasionally to help in the classroom etc and have only seen positive interactions with students. I always recommend Wicklow to parents that I met. Because of the region/cluster students are randomly assigned to schools. You should not be hesitant at all to send your child to Wicklow.

The first half of my son's 2016-2017 year was great. His teacher really took the initiative. She had amazing communication skills and she really seemed to care about my son's education. Then she went in maternity leave and we got a long term sub.I email her concerns and I rarely hear back. I had a meeting with the principal and his teacher and it got me nowhere. Today My son came home from school and said another student was choking his friend in the hallway, and no teachers noticed. My son had to punch the other student to get him off of his friend. There was then a punching match in the hallway, and again, no teachers noticed. I immediately contacted my son's teacher and heard nothing back on the matter. The fact that 2 teachers couldn't pay enough attention to their classes and this happened is unacceptable. I'm just beyond frustrated with Wicklow and getting nowhere with my concerns.

My son enjoyed K-1 here and those 2 teachers were great but in the last year (2015-2016) the level of quality, professionalism & organization have SEVERELY decreased. If a parent has any kind of disagreement w/their childs teacher and needs to go to the principal Mrs.M.Herndon they will only be put off, placated or patronized. She is condescending & aloof. Many of the teachers are seemingly plug-ins by the sys, nothing more than budget-friendly "newbies" who merely follow orders. The employee turn-over rate is high and the schools scores are low. What's worse, my childs belongings are regularly ruined or missing w/o explsnation & my child has been sent home injured multiple times w/o incident report or explanation. Teachers & principal ignore email inquiries and try to force you to only speak on phone so theres no evidence of whats been discussed. If you ask the principal for her supervisors info she'll provide you the wrong phone number while sarcastically telling you to have a great day. This has been the worst year ever.

Everyone at the school cares about each and every student. They go out of their way for their teachers, students and parents. The teachers always give more then 100%. I would not want my children going to any other elementary school in Seminole County other then Wicklow. My children and I LOVE Wicklow.

This school leaves a lot to be desired. The teachers range from a handful of experienced individuals that love their job and teach passionately to a bunch of young teachers who think that this is a 9-5 job that they can just get through every day. If your child is lucky enough to get one of the few good teachers, they will do well. If they don't, get ready for them to fail their standardized tests (Which is the ONLY thing they will be instructed on) and suffer for their school's shortfalls. Don't bother trying to get your child into any kind of performance activities, all their performances will last for 5 minutes after a 4 hour long meeting for parents about tests that do nothing to further a child's education. The front office staff is overworked and at times extremely rude. If your child has special medial needs, find another school at all costs....the nurse at Wicklow has no patience for children and is extremely rude to parents. The bottom line, your child may have a good year or 2 in their K-5 at Wicklow, but the rest of the years will be a frustrating time spent preparing for the FCAT which is meaningless in a useful primary education.

Love this school... could not ask for my children to be apart of a better school. The school tries to get the parents involved as much as possible, only complaint I have is alot of the parents don't take up the offer like they should... teachers are wonderful, principal is wonderful! A ++

I disagree about the teachers not caring. My ddaughter's teacher Mrs. K has been wonderful, and there are lots of things to do to get involved if you want to. It's important to stay involved so that your child's learning experience is the best it can be.

I cannot think of a better school. The students are learning so much and the teachers are amazing. One of my students has an amazing kinder teacher who goes above and beyond. I would keep her all 6 years if possible. Her hands on ways of learning and fun roomm and styles are fabulous! Way to go Miss Curran!
