If you do not mind below average teachers in the middle school and the fact your kid may have to carry the team they are assigned to because there is little accountability for poor performing team members. What is disappointing is the elementary school is good. This school loses good teachers because the pay is better everywhere else.

My son enjoys school but this year, we saw teachers leave and be replaced by young student teachers, and the director being changed for this upcoming year as well. There isn't a lot of commonality between different teachers within the same grade. There are problems with grading being inconsistent and several times during the year we had to contact a teacher to let her know the grades she posted (when she posted them) were incorrect. They were updated eventually but that created a lot of frustration at home with our student and us! The assignments in the different projects seem to be piled on at the end, right before exhibitions are to happen, and our student sometimes does not seem to know what is expected in terms of assignments. Digital portfolios are not updated frequently enough by teachers in order to be able to tell what the assignments are to be able to get clarification at home. It is a good school, but organization of teaching staff seems to be lacking a bit.

My son has attended for the past 2 years and has really come a long way in school. They seem to know how to nurture the inner creative side of each child and encourage them to be who they are. I had once heard someone describe this school as a misfit place, and wondered HOW when it's a lottery? I now know it's just that at this school, the kids get to express themselves without fear of being bullied or riduiculed. It's an artistic place, with drama, football, skateboarding ramps, fun electives, group work iin classes, iPads and Apple laptops instead of books,a dn plenty of student input. What an amazing place.

My child attended this school from 6th through 8th grade. My child has had a good experience, however, turn over of teachers and other staff has been a concern. We have seen teachers leave during the school year three times, usually replaced by student teachers. The teachers have been caring and creative, but I can say the curriculum sometimes lacks rigor, grading can be confusing, and the leadership was not consistent and did not communicate well with families or parent volunteers. If your child is independent and self motivated they will do well here. The presentations of learning and student led conferences help students to reflect on their learning experience and gain public speaking skills. I really believe in project based learning, but leadership and overall school spirit is lacking. They could do better. i understand there is new director for next year, that may help.

HTMNC is an awesome school. I really love its small student/teacher ratio. It's like a family. In the beggining of the school year I was a little shy but now with help of SLC and POLs. Those conferences helped me take away my shyness and become a natural public speaker. I also love the project based learning. I love it because its all hands on. I am a 8th student at High Tech Middle North County. I enjoyed the projects at this school when I started 6th grade. The teachers are always available and encouraging. I learned how to use apple applications, public speaking, agriculture, and performing arts. I am excited about the project that we are doing called All the Places You'll Go. This school is okay for education, but they don't know how to handle people who get in trouble. the person who tells the administration is always the story they use. they never listen to your story and you always get in trouble, in 6th grade my friend got his computer privileges taken away and he almost failed 6th grade. would not reccomend this school

Total quality! This school ceases to amaze me! I have two children at this school. Both of my children have grown academically, socially, and emotionally. This school pays attention to all of their students in fact they have SLC's (student led conferences) where students have a conference with parents and teacher, which includes telling you their strengths and weaknesses. Students are also given access to the latest technology. I also highly recommend this school for parents who care about their children's individuality and the quality of their education. This is a wonderful school, teachers, and academic coach's are very patient and work closely with children in the classroom.

We are so thankful that our son got into HTMNC for 6th grade. This school is top of the line. High Tech all the way. No books and everything is online. My son is so much more technologically advanced than his friends who stayed in the regular school system. I believe this is the key to a rewarding college experience and a brilliant professional career. I love how it feels like a private school and everyone is very friendly. They teach the kids a different way than the regular, old public schools. They have them do things more hands-on. They actually LEARN, not just memorize to pass tests. High Tech Middle North County is the key to a great education. I believe in this school 100%.

Came to HTMNC after attending the local public school and being pushed through 6th grade with no grade higher than a D. They have an excellent education model, preparing kids for the real world and the way business really works. Teachers are caring and motivated. Additional help is always available for anything from academics to personal issues. The administration seems overly concerned with adherence to district requirements and preservation of the school as a whole rather than the students individually. The teachers make up for it though.
