I've been at High Tech High North County since 7th grade now, and can I say, It has been one of the best experiences. At my previous schools, I was receiving little to no help, and the teachers often didn't offer after-hours. At High Tech, I get the help I need. The teachers are very clear, and always try to have students interact with the lessons in the most creative ways. Students are engaged, and actually enjoy what they're learning. Attending after hours is also heavily encouraged if you don't understand the material, they don't leave you to fend for yourself. High Tech's work is challenging, but not stressful. Since the school is project-based and student-led, projects have you working in groups with your classmates. You collaboratively work with your fellow students, and you will get the grade you deserve based on effort. It also helps you get out of your comfort zone by putting you with people you might not know that well, which some could see as a con, but personally I believe it has helped improve my social skills. The only reason why this is 4 stars instead of 5 is because the school is sometimes uncoordinated, changing dates at the last minute. My genuine perspective on this school is that it has improved my learning, academically and socially. If you're looking for a great project-based school where your child can be seen, High Tech High is the way to go.

Terrible, I was so excited to read and visit the school...but don't be fooled by the shiny surface, tech expertise ..the foundation is decayed to its very core on every level. The school performs well below grade level and is incredibly political...to the extent that Kinder to High School every subject will be very overtly taught with a political viewpoint that breeds no understanding, discussion ..it seems more important than the teaching of core subjects. It has been an awful experience

Wonderful experience! I have kids in elementary, middle and high school High Tech Schools. I've also had kids graduate from traditional schools and after having some at HTH I can honestly say the education is much better at HTH! I've had one son graduate from West Point, one from The Citadel and 2 from NNMI. HTH supports kids with a wonderful learning environment!

The teachers are very well experienced but the curriculums they follow are way under grade level. The school is 2/5 in my opinion -DOES NOT MEAN IT IS WORSE THAN OTHER SCHOOLS. It is better than traditional schools such as the huge one across the street. But it still has a lot of room for improvement. This school would be five stars if... it were INDIVIDUALIZED. That's it. That's all you need. Everyone learn at their own level, not everyone learn the same thing! THAT IS ALL YOU NEED TO MAKE THIS SCHOOL FIVE STARS.

Absolutely excellent school, with a positive, supportive environment and happy, nice kids. This school teaches 21st Century skills, leadership, team work, project management, personal organization skills, and social awareness.

I attended HTHNC for about a year and a half and the one point I would like to make the most clear is that this school advertises a VERY different image than what it is. I came to high tech out of a private school, craving more individuality. After months of researching, I decided high tech high was the place to be. Oh how I was wrong. When I got there I was extremely happy because all the work was such a breeze and the teaching of math was non existant. I was just happy to have less work, but when i left High tech I regreted it. THIS SCHOOL CUTS CORNERS. The caliber of there programs is about the intensity of a middle school course, and the students here are so caught up in the alternitive learning process that the majority of the important information is lost because teacher put more emphasis on building an art piece than learning the happenings of history or the concepts of math. When i started attending a regular public school, I was learning the same things my high tech high friends were at twice the depth in half the time. I truly amazes me as to how this school puts on a show of being a powerhouse of learning when it is so far from it. IT IN NO WAY PREPARES YOU FOR COLLEGE.

I don't even know where to start. Ninth grade teachers were excellent, they did fall short a bit in math instruction, but overall our family was happy with the school year. The tenth grade teacher team that my child is on (except the math teacher) falls short. My child scored high on Star Testing in all areas. It sure doesn't show in the grades at this level. If I had to do it all over again, my son we be at San Marcos High School. Teachers do not put assignments on PowerSchool. Students and parents live with frustration and anxiety because of this.
