I've been a Los Alamitos parent for the past 4 years, and I couldn't be more grateful for the incredible experience my children have had. The teaching staff here is outstanding, and the sense of community is unmatched. My girls have received exceptional support through IEP and 504 plans, as well as counseling services, which have been pivotal in their academic and personal growth. Each year, I’ve seen them perform better, becoming more confident and resilient.One thing that always amazes me is how my children consistently say that their current teacher is the best they've ever had—a true testament to the quality of the educators at Los Alamitos. The PTA is also incredibly involved and active, funding music, science programs, camps, and so much more each year, enriching the educational experience for all students.Mr. Rousseau, the principal, along with many of the long-standing teachers and administration, has been a cornerstone of this school for years. Their leadership and unwavering support have been crucial in shaping my children’s education and overall development.As I write this in 2024, marking the 50th year since the school's founding, I reflect on how fortunate we are to be part of such a fantastic community. While my elder child will move on to middle school in 2025, I'm excited to continue being a part of Los Alamitos Elementary for another 3 years with my younger child. I wholeheartedly recommend this school to any parent seeking a nurturing and supportive environment for their children.

Wonderful school! We moved houses just to be able to have our kids attend LA, and I can say it has been 100% worth it! The teachers truly care, are held to high standards, and my child has made leaps and bounds since starting at the school. We didn’t know our daughter was behind in reading, but after testing lower than a lot of her peers early on we discovered her previous school was not up to par academically. Los Alamitos has offered many ways to catch her up and we are so impressed by the curriculum and skill level of so many teachers at the school. Everyone we speak to at the school has glowing reviews to give. Also, the school has a great community and campus environment, and a principal that is warm and friendly to everyone he sees. The school rewards kids weekly with school-wide praise for kind acts. I truly feel like kids go out of their way to help others around campus and it’s very refreshing in this day and age. I notice a big difference from our last school. I also love how we have been embraced and there are so many opportunities to get involved. I can’t sing enough praises for our experience here so far.

I just wanted to take a moment to appreciate the hire of Mr Arturo Lozano for 5th grade. Whether it is taking extra classes before hours for math students preparing for an external Math Contest (picked by him), or taking extra classes after hours for students who are struggling and preparing them for middle school, or proposing students for National Leadership Forum, or recommending books to parents on kids or suggesting summer courses to get the students engaged more…he is just out of this world and much different than any of the other teachers that I have seen in the past. This is no knock on any of the other teachers as they are all excellent but its just that Mr. Lozano brings a totally different variety to the school and his ability to think out of the box and beyond just the curriculum is what I love. But even if you forget everything I mention above, the thing I love the most about him is his communication. There are no questions that he doesn’t answer on time, he talks to you whenever you just pop into a class for a quick chat, he gives feedback and he just loves his work.

Los Alamitos is a true collaboration of community - teachers, parents, family, principal and school staff. The recent Art Vista show was a fantastic demonstration of our students artistic creativity. The recent Multi-Cultural Faire was a phenomenal showcase of our community and student talent. The grade level music performances really show the well rounded students we are developing. Spring is a wonderful time at Los Alamitos!

All Los Alamitos staff are very professional and nice. They make you feel wonderful and let you know that their main priority is our children. They are willing to work with us in order for our children to learn and become a successful person in life. It is my second home. I'm very happy my children attend to this wonderful and marvelous school.

This school works very hard together - teacher and principal to make it a very great place. I am so happy how my student is doing. Her teacher told me today how she is learning and what she needs help with. So great to see the principal everywhere. So happy with everything.

Our family has been at Los Alamitos for almost ten years now, and we've loved every one of them. We feel lucky every day to be surrounded by such talented, dedicated, and KIND teachers who bring out the very best in our children. The principal, Mr. Rousseau, has been so incredibly approachable and supportive of parent ideas, and the school community is very enthusiastic about their many amazing programs being funded by the PTA and run by hard-working and generous parent volunteers. I find the environment to be inclusive and accepting of diverse values, and I feel like we all receive validation that each one of us has something positive to contribute. I couldn't imagine a better school for my kids--and I've experienced a lot of different schools in my own education and as a former teacher. Thank goodness for Los Alamitos and the strong leadership, awesome staff, incredible teachers, and amazing families and kids!

As a parent, I have been very satisfied by this school. I have been impressed with my child's teachers and the administration. As for behavior mentioned in a previous post, I met with the principal and also have gathered my own opinions and it appears that there are very few issues. The school uses a positive approach to recognizing the excellent behavior the majority of the students exhibit. After all, consequences really don't change behavior. I like how the teachers and the principal are working together to continue to develop strategies and provide supports for both behavioral and academic needs for some students and enrichment opportunities for all students. The PTA is a great support for the school - 100% membership for 6 years I think. You can't go wrong with Los Alamitos!

The school has excellent teachers and a great sense of community, however, there is little, if anything, being done about behavior issues in the classrooms and on the playground. The minimal consequences the school does have in place do little to discourage repeated bad behavior and unfortunately it's beginning to feel like the bad behavior is overpowering the good. Oftentimes, teachers have so many trouble makers in their class that they're spending a great deal of their time just trying to get these kids to listen or do their work, which makes it hard for the teacher to focus on the kids who are there to do their job and learn. Additionally, there are way too many kids on the playground and in the cafeteria at lunch--there's plenty of outdoor seating, yet for whatever reason they stuff so many kids in this tiny, stinky and obscenely LOUD cafeteria. Bullying is on the rise--kids continue being hurt by the same kids and it's been going on for years, yet nothing has been or is being done to address the issue. The leadership is really lacking...the principal needs to step up and start addressing these problems sooner rather than later!

I like that the parents and teachers are involved with the students and that this is in a good area but then with a strong PTA and everything why are the playgrounds in disrepair? Students are rushed out after 15 or so minutes of eating lunch. There have been some students that have done what is outlined as reason for suspension (it never happens) and when my child came home with a black eye I had no idea what happened but the school did and I guess didn't feel it was important to tell me. There was also an incident when a child (unsupervised ) fell on one of the playgrounds and was seriously injured but no one knew and I'm not sure how long they had to wait for help or anything. Everyday kids are playing and hanging out where they shouldn't be and with no adult supervision. Safety is another thing that I don't feel this school takes seriously as gates stay open/ unlocked and anyone can just wander on campus without a visitor badge or being questioned. It's almost as if they have the "that'll never happen to me" syndrome. Too bad the district no longer allows you to choose your school but instead you go to your neighborhood school and in this case we just have to settle.

Absolutely fabulous well rounded experience for both my children. Great sense of community, very inclusive, with 100% PTA enrollment for I don't know how many years in a row now! :) I think that alone speaks volumes. It is hard to create this environment anywhere else. The Moms and Dads really get involved and prioritize their children's education. The teachers and Mr Rousseau go above and beyond to create an enriching and nurturing environment. Wouldn't want to be anywhere else!

We debated a lot before sending our child to this neighborhood school. Let me tell you, we are very happy to have made the right decision . The school's motto & the dedication of the teachers & off-course the principal is amazing. Great parent involvement , strong PTA . Bottom line we have made the right choice for our child.

Los Alamitos Elementary School is a good public school. Teachers do their best with the limitations set by the local and state funding. Parent involvement is awesome, people in this neighborhood really care. Cons: I am not a big fan of the combo classes. Classes are a bit over crowded.

Los Alamitos is a really good school. All the kids there are friendly and the teachers are all really nice. There are a few cliques that think they're all that, but mostly everyone's nice there. The people who work in the office are really nice too, so I recommend going to Los Alamitos Elementary School.

It's true what you continue to read, the parents are heavily involved with students and staff. It is a great school but certainly not without flaws. With Kinders now joining the school for a full day, lunchtime can be tricky and even chaotic in a small cafeteria which runs in shifts. The school's annual walk-a-thon raises well over $100K yet, field trips have been compromised due to budget cuts.

Los Alamitos has been a wonderful school for my first grader. I have seen him blossom with the nuturing, caring and academically bright teachers he has had so for for Kindergarten and First grade. His confidence is growing, his academics are top notch and everyone is very supportive. We moved to Almaden for the school system and we are not disappointed in the least!
