Me encanta las Palmas, mis hijos tienen muy buenos amigos. Los padres, las directoras, todo el personal te hacen sentir abrazado por una comunidad unida. I can’t say enough about our experience at Las Palmas! We feel beyond blessed to be part of the community it offers. Our children and well rounded and bilingual at such a young age. Think of the advantage this gives them as young adults. I couldn’t imagine any school offering more than Las Palmas can offer. If you are given the opportunity to enroll take it, you WILL NOT regret it!

At first I was uncertain, sending our kids to a dual-immersion school. It was out of the norm and we had to lottery into the school. Would our choice work ou? Would our children learn what they needed to know to keep up with other students that attended a typical elementary school? Now that I have a son who has merged into a standard middle school, I am assured that our children are getting an exceptional education at LP. Our son tested into all of the advanced courses and is doing well at his new middle school. However, LP is not only strong in academics. I feel that LP has a strong sense of community and has given our children great insight into what it means to be a good citizen of the world. The vibe at LP is an extension of our family. On average, the students are kind and respectful. They help one another and tend to make good choices. The principal is incredible. The perfect balance of humor and diplomacy. She is further supported by an amazing staff. A bilingual vice principal with a doctorate degree! LP has terrific on-site counselors and a helpful front desk staff. None of our three children have experienced a bad teacher. Many of the teachers offer reading and writing groups after school. Tutoring is available in all subjects for free every Tuesday after school. I am active in the PTA and feel that the PTA and ELAC do an excellent job providing the school with many added benefits, like an organic garden, a STREAM lab, a library with an actual librarian, a music program, instructors for PE, art at lunch on Fridays, a Meet the Masters program, a Watchdog program, and are adding a new field with a nature trail and outdoor classroom! Incredible!!! Needless to say, I am a huge fan of LP.

I went to this school and now glad my son is there too. He currently is attending Kindergarten. He was having a hard time the first couple weeks and the school was able to help him. The counselor was able to speak with him and guide him and he now likes school. I Don't like that they offer so many lunch options (4-5) for both preschoolers and kindergartners. There should be one standard lunch each day. My son likes pizza and will probably pick the same thing everyday. Even though we teach them to make good choices they are always going to take what they like the most. This is why I started sending him lunch a few times a week. My son is speaking almost perfect spanish.

Sending my son & daughter to Las Palmas Elementary school was by far the best choice we could have made in their education! Our homeschool (when my son started Kinder) was a brand new school also, we have since moved to another city so we now commute to LP but I would not trade LP for a new school facility or convince ever. Simply fantastic bilingual & multicultural education just ask the many teachers in the CUSD district that send their kids here.

Las Palmas is an amazing school! What a gift to provide our children with a second language at such a young age. Awesome teachers, support, sense of community ! It doesn't get any better than this

We love our school! The teachers have high expectations and provide an interactive and collaborative learning environment. There is a wonderful feeling of family at our school. There is an active PTA and a very engaged principal. It is a very diverse community, which we love! The dual language program is a real plus for the community and most important the students. To be competitive in the 21st century, bilingualism and being open minded is a must! LP could be a bit stronger in technology for both kids and staff. I am looking forward to teacher integrating the Common Core in the classrooms this year.

A great public immersion school with quality and committed teachers, administrators and parents providing a great quality education on a limited budget. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars has nothing to do with the academic program; the facilities could use upgrading but that is an issue with many California schools due to the lack of priority funding for education. Don't be swayed by test scores; smart kids do really well here and, in my opinion are much better off here than in higher testing schools because they learn a second language at a time when they are primed for it and also learn to deal with a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures.
