This is one of the worst schools at Northside ISD. They can’t keep teachers and the behavior is horrible.

We have 2 of our children (6, 8) that have been attending McDermott a little over 1 year and the only issues we have ever had were due to buses breaking down and not receiving any info on why our kids are late to their drop off. Aside from that, the teachers are really GREAT at keeping us informed of any issues. We also receive emails when grades drop and rise. Overall GREAT school!

This review is based on lady at front desk (Christina i think her name is)@ mcdermott elementary school, first of all I went there with my son ask her few questions regarding this school,l saw lady have no shoes on at front desk came to me seriously she was bare feet that was big impact on school first thing i saw and I just moved down here from different state instead of let me ask few questions she just keep giving me paperwork fill them up at home and bring them back and keep interrupting me when i am trying to ask her few questions regarding school and without answering my questions she totally ignored and start answering phone on other side of desk without saying excuse her,was extremely rude , she should know this better she should take one person at a time to answer not multiple people waiting on her and she is just ignoring everyone and keep moving on, her behavior shows bad reputation for school and not sure why someone can be so rude when whole school responsibility on her while school is close for session. looking at her no one will like to deal with person everyday like that ,this school have good rating only reason i went there but looking at lady's behavior seems like 'third class' school where faculty don't care as far as they are getting paid ,only reason have to do this review is to school know about there staff and little attention might help them not to drop there rating due to her misbehave and she might under estimate people with there appearance !!hope this review help school and parents . Thankyou

This is great school with dedicated teachers. My son had been in the school for the last two years and he throughly enjoyed being there. The teachers take individual care of each student and their needs

This is the worst school I've had the misfortune to deal with. From the first day of registration, I've had nothing but headaches. The administration is terrible. Every time I've had to go to the office to drop off lunch for my children or just to sign in to have lunch with them, it has never gone smoothly. The ladies that work at the front office are incompetent and I don't know how they've managed to get their job. We recently moved from another state and my daughter would never want to miss school, even when she was sick. When I would try to keep her from going to school because she has a cold, she would say "I don't want to miss school mommy, because I like going to school." Ever since I've enrolled her into this school, she never wants to go to school. I've gone in and said something to them, yet I haven't gotten one call back or response from them. There have been time, I've dropped lunch off for my child before she's to have lunch yet she doesn't get it until lunch comes to an end for her. I used to work with school aged children and would have to go to a lot of different schools; by far this has got to be the worst school I've ever come across.

My grandson attends McDermott Elementary, and I have high praise for the teachers that work there and the Administrative staff...Last year was his first year of Kindergarten, and he was praised, encouraged to listen and offer his thoughts on the subjects being studied...And Kudos to his teacher, Mrs. Angela Palomarez...She has an excellent relationship with her students....She cares......
