My son attended Crossler for 2 years before we removed him for other public school options. My child needed something different than what was offered at Crossler. It's a school that suffers from violent acts by the students both to the property and to the children. The system of teachers, behavioral specialists and administration are not a connected web and so our child did not receive student-centered education. Each of them work within a silo. It appears as if the administration and teachers are reactive and instead of proactive and it appears there is no professional development available to help the adults learn how to teach children who do not fit-in or successfully manage the overcrowded violent box. Chronically, my child was sent to "PASS" room, which is a room without a teacher where children go when they cannot manage themselves in the traditional environment. My child was sent to the PASS room so often that it essentially bypassed his opportunity to receive education. We loved the orchestra program there and we were sad to leave it, but my child has thrived in a more supportive environment elsewhere.

TERRIBLE!!! Multiple students have even said that they wish this school didn't exist! I honestly hate this school so much! This school is terrible and I don't know how it has good reviews

Best experience since elementary age level for my child in regard to actively being involved and truly wanting to enhance their IEP program.

Everyone saids this is the good school... Well they are wrong. I have went to both leis and crossler and in my opinion leslie is way better. People say that leslie kids are all bad and things but i actual saw more bad kids at crossler than at leslie. Also the rich kids thing is very real at crossler. Kids get made fun of a lot . To the point where they are being mentally and physically abused constantly

I have a special needs child. My son was diagnosed with ADHD years ago and was put in Adderal. He was hit by a car in 2012 and recently a medical professionsal told me that he suspected my child was most likely diagnosed incorrectly. We believe my son may have TBI (traumatic brain injury) and/or high functioning Autism. The school has been told several times My child needs to be referred to specialist to get a proper diagnoses. My issue is that my son is in Special Ed and these teachers need to do their job. They claim Adderal helps him in class. IT DOES NOT HELP HIM IT JUST GETS HIM HIGH. Once again on several occasions I informed them that these meds keep my child up until 3 or 4 a.m. Sometimes he tells me he did not sleep at all. He has been caught snorting his media and yes we have informed the school. They still swear by his ADDERAL!! What happens more times than not is my child will arrive at school acting out and we get a call.." Did he take his meds???" Wether he has or he has not taken his meds, when my son is having a bad day we are asked to pick him up in the first 30 minutes of school. So very annoyed!!!

Crossler Middle School has a very caring staff who strive to provide students with the necessary skills to be successful in life. Grade and test scores are important, but they aren't all that we are concerned with at Crossler. We teach the whole child, developing relationships with and getting to know each of our students and his or her life outside of school. We make students care about their education and show them the advantages continuing their educations can provide for them.

The teachers, IA's and office staff at Crossler work hard to make connections with their students and parents. Many teachers put in hours beyond their "day" to help students be successful. They run after school clubs, come in early and stay late to help students with academics, they attend athletic events and contact parents when needed. The office staff always makes visitors feel welcome when they enter the building.

So far I've been very pleased with the education my daughters receive at Crossler because academically they have strong teachers who seem knowledgeable and work hard to help the students succeed. In the choir department however, I find the teacher to be somewhat lacking in his ability and his decision making. I'm also discouraged by the lack of sports available to play, especially for the 6th grade students, and some of the coaches that lead them who I feel are unqualified.

Crossler Middle School is a fantastic school! The teachers are great and communicate well with parents. I love their inTouch website where I can keep track of my child's grades (they update it weekly). The transition to middle school was a breeze (my son likes MS better than ES). The principal is wonderful person who works hard to make Crossler a fun place to learn.

The teachers at Crossler Middle School are the type of teachers that use their personal income to pay for after school program scholarships, so that underpriveledged students have a chance to participate too. Crossler has intriguing classroom lesson plans, learning based after school programs and fun lunchtime activities facilitated by parent volunteers. Our own children share some form of inspiration each and every week that they acquired from their teachers and school faculty, and I know their friends share in similar inspirations. Crossler teachers and school faculty connect with their students at an independent level. They still know our children that have since gone on to highschool, by name and by face. They do this because they genuinely care about each and every student. I'm proud to boast about Crossler faculty, from the office staff to the principal, to each and every teacher. Crossler is doing it right!

Crossler is a great school with very committed and caring teachers. All of the staff goes above and beyond for the students every day. There is an atmosphere of caring and respect from the staff and students. The 6th grade team works very closely with incoming 6th graders to support and help them transition onto middle school. Communication is great from administration and staff, and they always answer questions and concerns. They are a very creative team of teachers that do the best with what they have in these years of budget cuts to keep learning interesting for the kids. Crossler also is committed to having a strong music program with excellent band, choir and orchestra teachers. We are lucky to live in the Crossler district!

We have had a wonderful experience at Crossler. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. I have never had a problem communicating with my child's teachers or the staff. It is a fun and healthy learning enviroment for the students.

Great teacher to student ratio. Teachers all available for extra help before or after school. Easy to get questions answered in a timely fashion regarding classroom issues, behavioral problems, scheduling changes. Safe learning environment. The rules are evenly & fairly enforced to keep kids safe. Great parental involvement to make school events a success. Teachers are genuinely engaged in their students learning & celebrate their successes. I can see all are working very hard to help students achieve high marks on the standardized testing. The choir & band/orchestra are very popular & have excellent instructors.

This is actually a question, we are planning our move to Salem and we have a 12 year old and a 5 year old we need want to know what the best school's will be to send them to? Our 12 year old loves Baseball and Football so we want a school with a great Athletic program? Any ideas?
