Amazing school in an amazing school district. My child loves Long Elementary and I look forward to sending all of my kids there. Top notch teachers and administration.

Generally a below average school. Not many large problems; but lots of small ones that quickly add up, and not many redeeming qualities. The main building is kind of derelict: the rooms that do have air conditioning are cold enough that students have to wear jackets year round, and the rooms that do are hot near the beginning and end of the school year. The administration is also very pushy and rude when you point things out. I could write a whole page on my issues with this school, particularly with the administration.

The teachers and administration at Long Elementary are top notch educators who encourage the responsible use of technology in every classroom. The PTO is motivated and organized and recently created a wonderful outdoor learning space in the courtyard of the school that includes vegetable gardens and outdoor classrooms. The families of Long are welcoming to new families and raise respectful and fun-loving children.

I pulled my son from a private school and put him in Long. Best decision we ever made. They give every child the tools they need to learn, in a way in which they can learn. Every child is different and this school appreciates that sentiment. He went from reading below grade level with lots of intervention to reading above grade level in less than a year. That speaks volumes to me. An emphasis on art and music is something that is often lacking today's public schools but not at Long. I love the school and the district.
