I used to love this school. Both my children attended this school k-6 from 2009-2024. This was our last year at skaith and to see how much the school has declined this past year is sad. 2023 school year began with a new principle and an influx of students after the closure of Mark Twain. What used to be a school with very few fights among students, now is riddled with fist fights every other day. This school used to have such a close net community among parents, students, and faculty; no longer does it hold the same warm welcoming vibes within it's doors. It feels more like I'd imagine a prison feels like. So many restrictions and rules that kids can't even be kids anymore. With an influx of students with behavioral problems, all students must suffer the consequences. I am so happy this is my child's last year and my heart goes out to the teachers who aren't supported or paid enough to deal with such a toxic work environment.

My experience with this school is that the principle is amazing! The teachers are not bad at all . The school values parents being involved with the child’s education.

Skaith Elementary is a wonderful school!! I love how involved the parents are at this school. I love the Leader in Me program they have! They go really above and beyond to know who you are at the school. The principles presence is greater than I have seen at any other school. I honestly think the only negative thing I would say is that I don't like the common core curriculum but that is going to be any public school so really I have nothing negative to say! :)

I really like how this school has really done great things with the introduction of the principal. Doctor Patterson is great, and is achieving wonderful things there. The nurse always calls every time my daughter goes to the nurses office. The school is overcrowded due to the addition of the Chapel Ridge apartments. My daughter loves attending there, which was not planned correctly to build those apartments in lieu of where the children living there would go. I really have nothing negitive to say.

Unfortunately, Skaith has gone downhill significantly in the five years that my children have attended school there. Teachers seem frustrated by the overall learning of the students and have just plain given up. They don't hold the students accountable for anything and instead just doll out good grades. But the test scores prove the children are not learning and the districts refusal to adequately staff the building with full time teachers is a big part of that.

My husband and I are extremely pleased with the experience we have had with Skaith. We feel so blessed to be able to send our children to such a good school. The staff is amazing, the children get quality education, we have never once felt unsure or uneasy about sending our children to school at Skaith. I am currently in college studying Elementary Education and I hope I am lucky enough to get a job at a school like Skaith.
