This school is became a Turnaround Arts Partner school with the Kennedy Center in 2012. This has led to the school leveraging the arts. The school has grown immensely since 2012 when it was identified as a school in need of growth. Northside became a celebration school in 2015, recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School in 2020. They recently started a Talent Development program that the current principal brought to the school. This program all 2nd Grade students are universally screened for talent development services. The staff are exceptional and care deeply about all students and want students to be successful. It is such a great place to learn.

I have two children that attend this school. My daughter has come home with a black eye twice within two years. She had also had claw marks and bruises on her. The school refused to help solve this problem until we told them we were leaving. I am not one of those parents who think their child is perfect but all anyone ever says at the school is how sweet and quiet she is. A few teachers are awesome but many want children to be tested for ADA if they even speak out of turn once. My son has had great teachers with no problems.

Our family has had extremely positive experiences at the Northside Elementary School in St. James. Our boys have loved their teachers and the challenges presented to them....most recently in 1st and 5th grades. It is wonderful to also be able to view progress of grades online throughout the Trimester.
