    Madelia Elementary is a fabulous school with quality educators and programming. The teachers really care about the success of your children here.

    Things havn't changed from the last review. Teachers are subpar, not parental friendly and say things like "this is how we have always done it" Not open for improvement or change. Treat parents like outsiders, not partners. No volunteering opportunities. Bullying is a problem they don't recognize or ignor. Principal came in 2 years ago, changed a bunch of things while still looking for another job, which she took. Her periodic letters have spelling and grammar errors. Children get hurt or are sick and parents aren't called. Handbook is incomplete, yet parents are just supposed to know. AR reading program is huge, but parents are left in the dark unless they ask specific questions. Even the librarian admits to forgetting to explain it or not knowing. Person at the front desk is more adversarial than helpful. Children who walk or are dropped off have to enter a door that is frequently locked. Email system sends all correspondence from parents to spam unless they specifically add you. Despite all it's quirks and problems, this school is very good at promoting friendships throughout all grades. My child has many friends and likes her teachers.
