Rodgers has a great community, they really work hard on making the school a friendly place

My Daughter just started 1st grade at Rodgers. The teachers and principal are awesome, and the security is VERY comforting. However the office staff have been rude, and have given me wrong information several times! They never smile, and act as if I'm bothering them when I need something. Also, one day my Daughter had to be picked up due to being ill. When I got to the office, my Daughter was sitting there waiting, and both secretaries were at their computers, never even looked at me or asked for my ID. I asked "is she all set?" and the one secretary (still not looking at me) said, "yep just sign the sheet"

My children have been in Rodgers for three years. I find the office to be very condesending at times, yet the teachers are awesome. If you call to speak to the Principal about the office staff, she will take their side. It's okay in her eyes for office staff to hang up on parents. IMO, the office staff is usually the first person a parent sees. It seems to me that the office staff could use a crash course in customer service skills; i.e-"May I help you?"

My child has attended Rodgers for nearly 2 years now. The kindergarten and now first grade teacher are both amazing. They truly care about the students. They both have always made sure that the students are bundled up properly when their own parents don't do it for their own children. I've chaperoned field trips and have seen the lack of care a parent displays only for the teacher to pick up where the parent neglected. The staff is not rude. The principal as well as the teachers are all professional, motherly and nurturing, they care....it's not just a job to them. The school is like a family, they actually call it a school family. Their spirit day assembly on Fridays is very uplifting and concentrates on core values. The school does NOT try to get money by having us sell things consistently and when they do it's simply an option. The school does have wonderful after school family functions such as, movie night, bingo night, daddy daughter dance, skating parties...etc. My child is always challenged in all studies. The children are assessed formally by the NWEA assessment to see where they place in reading and math, so each child can have their own learning path.

I find the school very good. My youngest is the 3rd and last of our children to attend Rodgers. Never had a problem with the staff, administration, etc. In my opinion, it's the parents that cause the problems. They can't follow the simplest of rules. If you won't follow them, why would your child? Rodgers is a great place to learn!

I am new to this school but after 2 weeks I feel that I have seen enough. My child's teacher seems clueless and the office staff is rude. I went in today with a question and she didn't care about my question and was too lazy to get up and help me. I am beginning to think they just don't care at all. Why did I transfer here? Worst decision ever! I wish I could go back in time and leave my child in their old district. Hindsight is 20/20.

My children attended Rodgers for three years, unfortunately we had to move out of the district this year and they are attending another school. I loved all 6 of the teachers I interacted with. Each of my daughter's three teachers worked hard to help her with her educational needs and create a learning plan that kept her moving forward. The amount of teacher/parent/child accountabilty was perfect. I never had to guess at their homework assignments, they were clearly marked on their agendas. The teachers walked the children out every afternoon and were available if you needed to discuss an issue. The teachers were prompt at returning parent concers through both email and telephone. I just feel as a whole that Rodgers Elementary is right on mark and if for some reason life brings us back to the eastside of town, I will be Elated to return my children where I know their education and safety are taken seriously.
