This school should be defunded. the bullying is out of control. that vice principal runs the place like a juvenile correction facility rather then a school. as far as I'm concerned don't waste your time with this school.

From a student currently in this school, it's trash. The food taste like dried cauliflower with cardboard on the side. There are fights every other day and everybody is saying the n-word. The homework is okay but It's ehh. I hate almost all the teachers. There are a lot of rumors. But I would recommend this school if you want your kid to have character. I am warning you if your kid is in 7th grade and acts like they are in the 5-6th grade they will get bullied so be warned. Other than all that the school is okay and just get with the right people and keep your head low.

I’ve had much better experiences before. Plenty of people are aware that the school is awful, but those of us who care have no power there.

I love being a parent to an NMS student. There are so many ways for me to be involved. I’ve learned so much about diversity and community, and really enjoyed participating. We are one of the most diverse schools in the state. We have a new principal who began leading us last year, and he brought high expectations with him. We have rigorous academic standards and work hard to help every child achieve their full potential. This school is based in the community and full of hardworking teachers and administrators who love what they do and believe in the children there. They've successfully reduced the school's suspension rate by 50% through the implementation of Restorative Justice. There are so many opportunities for parents to be involved, too! PTSA, School Site Council, PBIS... and so many clubs for kids to enjoy! We are even starting a new Garden Club where we will be growing organic veggies right on campus. We envision a middle school community where every child is successful, every family is engaged, every teacher is inspired, and everyone belongs.

Experience at this school has been terrible. Starting from the first day of school. I have voiced my concerns to the teachers, assistant principal, and the principal. My child has had a horrible year from bullying to teachers who have no desire to teach. I am highly dissatisfied and I'm looking to change school next year if I have to pay to go private it would be well worth it.

This school is shameful and much worse than anything you see in the movies.

So far...2017 school year has been horrible. My son has majority sub teachers...who are incapable of teaching. Some try...others literally let kids play on phones or call them names. I am doing everything possible to expose them and move my son.

Overall our experience at NMS has been very positive. Our students have, for the most part, had excellent teachers that they have learned from and enjoyed. They have had the opportunity to participate in things that they would not have had at other schools, such as orchestra. More importantly, however, NMS has provided our students with the opportunity to interact with others from a wide variety of situations and circumstances. They have learned that not everyone is like them. They have learned how to work with others and how to overcome challenges and how to appreciate people based on who they are rather than on the basis of socioeconomic level, race/ethnicity, or other factors. Because of this they are better equipped and better prepared.

This school is bad mostly due to the low income families that send their children to Natomas Middle School. I chose to leave the are entirely because of this horrible school. I don't know why this school is still operating. All staff and administrators should be fired.

on 6/10/15 I wanted to register my child at this school for junior high because our home school was full. It looks nice on the outside and inside, but I had not had a chance to read the reviews. After reading and looking at the student test scores, which to me says everything. It just sounded like an environment that even children that are very focused would have a hard time learning, and teachers would have a hard time teaching, with all the chaos going on. test scores are proof of that. I decided to go back and tell them I no longer wanted to enroll her there, I will just check out other schools even if I have a long commute, or have to go private which would be hard financially. When I was waiting in the office a parent came from outside to tell the staff that when he came to pick up his child from the summer program a group of other children, enrolled in the program as well, threw a rock and hit his son while they were leaving the school. When the father turned to say something to see who did it, another rock was thrown at the father and hit his car and dented it. The father and son seemed so nice and the son just looked traumatized, I will not forget his face. That is just horrifying to me! Kids actually bullying the parents! That's unheard of and definitely fits the reviews and I only spent 30 minutes at the school. The worst part is that the staff member a male that was in charge of the summer program and may have even been the principal, his reaction to the situation with the children that threw the rocks. He had the father point them out, and then told the children "If I cant trust you to hang out outside on breaks, you will have to stay indoors on breaks." WHAT?!!!!!!!!! They through rocks at an adult and child just trying to leave the school hitting the child and damaging a car, and that is the discipline? The parents should have been called, suspension, detention, you name it. This guy could not have cared less, and he basically gave the kids a green light to repeat the behavior! Unbelievable!!! On a positive note office staff seemed nice, but I could see why they would feel incredibly overwhelmed. I would never send a child here until they get it together. The school district needs to get involved!

I'm a student so listen to someone in the school! This school is great and it offers many programs. The teachers and students here are kind. I rarely see bullying. I rate this school a 5!

This is a horrifying school. I moved my daughter immediately. The bullying, harassment, lack of teacher involvement is appalling. To see the cops there every single day is a little bit unnerving. Your children are not safe at this school. Run as fast as you can.

This school is a great school. Or should I say- WAS a great school. Don't get me wrong here- the school has more than enough things to make a student earn a brighter future. This is middle school. This is where the PARENTS step in. It gets me quite frustrated when everyone judges the setting of the event, not the characters or cause of it. For example- bullying. Its the parents of the bully who raise such an ignorant child. Keep in mind here- the student is 12-14 years old whilst the parent is an average of 30 -40 years old. MUCH MUCH more experience, right? Exactly. The parents of the bully are unintelligent, brainless, and mentally incapacitated. They are the ones to take the blame. They are the kind of people you'd see on an episode of Maury or Jerry Springer. I dislike when people get the school confused with the bully. Think about it- this school has something 10 star schools don't often have- diversity. Its tough for the teachers to handle ignorant students but they're doing it to the best of their ability. The bullies need to be taken care of by their parents. I have seen a victim defend herself from a bully and get suspended. Once again- it was bad parenting.

Natomas Middle School is a very dangerous school, parents be careful. They have gone through many principals, not sure why. The police seem to be called almost daily, I've never heard of a middle school where the students get to watch their pre-teen friends handcuffed and driven away in a police car. Not to mention the traffic and security is almost nonexistent. They are trying to correct things yet the student s safety should be the first focus. It's not... This is the type of school that has very little oversight. When a student has their belongings stolen out of a locker and then they see their belongings a day or 2 later with another student, that student should be comfortable enough to go to the teachers/principal (if there is one) for help. The student in this example will not and won t tell on the other student because they don't want to get beaten up. That should say it all; students are scared to get beaten up by other students in this school for just trying to do the right thing. Terrible leadership at the school level and at the district.

I'm a parent and my daughter is currently going to this school. I wish I could leave a great review, but the staff doesn't take care of the school and the teachers are just the same, they are so few that are worth mentioning. For example the music teacher, he encourages the kids to do so much and push them to their limit. I honesty think that if all were like him the school would be so far ahead of other school. But if they don't do something to fix this this school will end up being a reject school instead of a good school. Also the safety of the students that go to this school is appalling, there are many students constantly being bully and no one in the school staff is doing anything about it. My daughter was bully in lunch and no one of the supposedly campus staff did anything about it. I just wish they would open their eyes on this school and do something about it before is to late and they end up being another school run over by kids instead of the staff.

This school was great two years ago when my daughter went there in 7th grade and it went completely downhill from there. My youngest child is now here and its gotten even worse. It seems as though the principal does not have control of the school and the really great vice principal that seemed to hold things together left this year. I am sad to say that the staff have no control over the children and this makes it difficult for the children who want to learn to do that. I have spoke to the principal about my concerns so many times and nothing gets corrected. I have gone to the district and again they do nothing. It seems that the staff is there for a job only and don't care about our children. Pathetic and I am sad to say that my kids feel this too. There are a couple teachers that have given above and beyond and show the students they care, but most do not. This is our 3rd year at this school, one more year to go and I am glad to say we are done!! I will never refer this school to anyone in our community and I deal with people on a regular basis in this community.

I am a parent of 3 children attending this school 2013 - 2014, one of my children has been bullied since day one. Recently I decided to observe the school and the classrooms. Not to my surprise did I see the lack of discipline in 8 out of 10 students. I was appauled by the behavior and disrespect the students portrayed. I happened to be there on a day that a Board meeting was taken place, therefore every classroom had a Subsitute teacher. It seemed to me that the teachers had no control over the classroom. The school is way over crowded. It obviously showed the lack of parenting in the way the students interact. It seems that the problems that exists are not being addressed. Bullying and students are way out of control. The superintendent at this school district should be aware of the reviews and take serioius ACTION before it's too late. Just a note of advice, if you are planning to send your child to this school think elsehwere! Or visit the school before you enroll. Let me also include that the staff really do their best to manage the classrooms, but there's only so much they can do.
