In my time at this school, I've had a generally decent experience. One aspect I believe could be improved is the need for a more diverse staff, ensuring better representation of the student body. This would contribute significantly to fostering a more inclusive and enriching learning environment.

My Children have attended Red House Run Elementary for the past few years. They are currently in 2nd and 5th grade. All the staff at the school are very friendly, kind, helpful, and accommodating to all students. All of their teachers have been very pleasant to work with during the school year. Are always available to communicate about my child, either via text, email, in person or telephone. The administration is wonderful, always putting the children first every day and find creative ways to incorporate leaning and fun together. I would highly recommend this school to anymore moving to the neighborhood with younger children. I am sad my 5th grader will be moving onto middle school soon.

My all of my children have gone to RHR. I was not pleased with the original principal however since the administration has changed a few years ago I am much happier. There is an excellent response to parent feedback and suggestions. There is a strong sense of building individual relationships between students. Love having my children in a diverse school where differences are celebrated and staff help build strong sense of self and community. We are so glad for all the new additions to the staff in recent years.

My family is in its 5th year at Red House Run. Reading review and seeing the rating had me nervous about sending my childern. Those fears where quickly put to easy. The teacher and staff are truly here for the students and family. The teachers do an amazing job making everyone feel welcomed. The education my childern are receiving is above expectations.

This is our 5th and 4th years at RHR. My students adore the faculty and staff, feel safe, and enjoy learning everyday. I appreciate the caring teachers/staff, clear communication, and ability to have questions/concerns addressed quickly.It was a breath of fresh air to have new leadership join the RHR team a few years ago. Our Principal and Vice Principal navigate all successes and challenges gracefully and respectfully. Thank you, RHR!

Mrs. Scarafile took over as principal several years ago and the school has really turned around in all areas. She came with a burst of positive energy and a love for children that is apparent every single day. She is fair, thorough and has hired the best of the best. Mrs. Scarafile focuses on community and school family and has high expectations for student learning. We liked Red House Run prior to her arrival, but we LOVE Red House Run now.

RHR is a zone school in an area of $200,000+ homes, and yet operates as a title 1 school. There is NOTHING positive about that. The fact is that they are teaching to the slowest in the class. They trade on the fact that they were a Blue Ribbon School. That was approx 12-14 years ago. That distinction no longer applies. It's worth noting that RHR was not a title 1 school in the year that their excellence was rewarded with the banner that still hangs out front, on outside wall of the school entrance. The curriculum is supposed to be STEM, but they would be hard pressed to prove how that curriculum is actually integrated into the student's day to day education. While Kindergarten was sufficient, first grade was anything but that. We are not the only parents to see a their children struggle in math when they are transferred to another school that is not a title 1 school. This is not about diversity or teaching our children to accept peers from other economic levels. It's not about cleanliness of the school or the process used to make parents feel that their kids are safe in school. THIS IS ABOUT WHAT AND HOW they are taught. This is about turning out successful children....and not just a handful that are fortunate enough to be bright enough to seek out necessary info on their own, in spite of the atmosphere. The bottom line is that RHR needs a complete overhaul, beginning with the principal. Everyday that RHR is permitted to operate so poorly while hiding behind title 1 status is a day of education lost to your children. The school has serious problems that need to be dealt with to protect the educational rights of every child that attends the school.

I believe that Red House Run is THE best school in Maryland. I have always been treated great and all the teachers and staff treat my son like their own. Teachers always make extra time for any student who need help. The school is very secure. If a student from the pavillion needs to enter the main building, there is always supervision. ALL visitiors must check in at the main office or office staff will chase them down :) This really is a safe school. All students are kind to staff & each other.
