The school needs harsher punishment there are students who can get into fights and not even get expelled. They can come back from their check in check out with a bag full of snacks for doing the bare minimum and they can get away with alot of things like insulting the other students. They sometimes need more than 2 adults to hold someone back from getting into a fight. Its not fair to the other students that are doing well and behaving when they see someone who does that come back with rewards for doing the mare minimum. even one of the teachers said if someone in their childs school behaved this way they wouldve called 911.

My daughter started in 3rd grade (now in 4th) and I can't wait for her to leave that school. As stated in a previous review, children with behavioral issues are mixed with "regular" students and it's complete chaos every time and I don't think she learns as much as she could be and says she's distracted by the environment. Unfortunately, I don't want to change schools in her close to last year so I'll just tough it out and make better decisions for middle school.

This school is a good school. My child has been here since grade K and now a 5th grader. The only issue I have with the schooling system put I.E.P students in classrooms with children with out special needs. Many of these I.E.P kids have behavioral issues. It isn't fair for the kids that don't have these issues to have to deal with the I.E.P kids. Those kids should be in an alternative classroom working on their issues to return to regular Ed and if they can not resolve the issues just keep them in alternative classrooms. Schools are catering more and more to these special need kids and allowing normal and advanced kids to fall in the shadows. Baltimore County schools are becoming more like Baltimore City schools. You had some hope looking forward to putting your child in a magnet school where kids score in but now it's an open lottery so your kid will have to deal with the I.E.P emotional and behavioral issue child some more. Save up your money for PRIVATE SCHOOL..Baltimore County Schools are downward spiraling

My kids have attended Elmwood Elem for 2 yrs so far. Pre K was wonderful, K was ok, but I am hoping for an improvement this year. My main concern is the building and maintence of the school which I believe could be greatly improved. We'll see how it goes this year, but I am pretty happy with the teachers so far so I guess it could be worse. I think kids deserve to learn in up-to-date buiildings that are kept clean throughout the day, but I grew up going to PA schools that were always kept up.

Fullerton elementary school is only less than a mile from Elmwood, yet its rating is 5 compared to former which is 10. Principals of other schools whose ratings are bad [1-6], should consult M/s Biscoe, Susan, about how they can improve their respective school ratings. Take tips, follow the reaching methodology, how they motivate kids, make them work hard, what is their incentive for kids to perform better???
