Penisula Heritage is truly a gem. The staff is wonderful. The curriculum is great. Students are always encouraged to do their very best. The support system available is also amazing. The classroom sizes are smaller, which allows the students to be heard and engaged. They also incorporate character qualities as part of their teachings, which is so important. We love Peninsula and are very grateful to have found this school and recommend it to parents who are looking for a beautiful community.

We chose PHS based on small class size and the strong, supportive curriculum. What we didn’t understand until we got settled into the school, is that we were gaining a team of educators that would become our son’s biggest fans. This is a place of belonging, a place where kindness isn’t just a concept, it’s a practice. Kids learn to resolve conflicts and face academic challenges. They gain confidence while doing things they never thought they could do. I’ve heard my son say, “I didn’t know I had it in me.” This is a place where children can excavate their own potential. It is a place where students support and celebrate each other. An outstanding, one-of-a-kind school!

PHS has been an oasis for us throughout the pandemic. Strict Covid protocols have kept the community safe, and the small class size has enabled our daughter to really thrive instead of withering on the vine on zoom school. The differentiated curriculum has enabled her to move ahead to the next grade level in math, where she has always excelled, without feeling the pressure to skip a grade and push her beyond her own social-emotional comfort zone. The campus is beautiful and offers plentiful opportunities for outdoor activities. I can’t say enough good things about the administrators, who go above and beyond to ensure the happiness of their students. My daughter considers the Head of School to be her favorite teacher of all time. In her words, “Dr. Chun is amazing. She’s very kind to her students. She treats them like family.” I couldn’t have said it better myself.

Peninsula Heritage School is the best by far and will always be close to our hearts. Both our children are alumni and have grown to be amazing women. The foundation of academics and character building they received at PHS established the work ethic, confidence, and integrity they have today. The teachers and staff are exceptional and have a passion for what they do. The students always come first and their success is a priority.Sending our children to this gem of a school was the best thing we did for themWe all want our children to thrive and become the best person he or she can be. Our experience at PHS has been a 10 out of 10. We have had children at the school for the last 3 years and could not be more happy with their experience. We love the teachers, staff, community, curriculum and culture at this little gem of a school. The teachers employ a variety of methods that truly make learning fun. Before our eyes, we have watched confidence of our children grow tremendously. Both of our kids actually love going to school every day. We would highly recommend Peninsula Heritage School to anyone that is looking for an exceptional learning experience.

We were delighted PHS opened a middle school for our children to continue onto, having thrived there since kindergarten. The intimate setting and talented, loving faculty have provided much-needed stability and academic consistency in early adolescent years. The teachers are effective, understanding, and accessible, working tirelessly to challenge, educate and nurture their students to be in the best possible shape for high school and beyond. They give selflessly of their time and energy to provide academic and socio-emotional support (even advice on educational goals), almost impossible in a larger scale environment. We have not been disappointed by the curriculum and array of options available: engineering, coding, robotics, student publications, hands on art and science, languages (Spanish and Mandarin) outdoor ed (Pali, Yosemite, Channel Islands) and music programs to name a few. Learning is brought to life through living museums, dance, and board games, designed by students themselves. They learn about economics, the stock exchange and establishing an investment portfolio.The exceptional language arts teachers guide the students through high school-level literary analysis, expose them to different genres in a ‘literary tasting’ and set innovative, meaningful writing projects. No race-to-nowhere style busy work! About half the students are on an advanced math track, doing geometry or above by eighth grade. Rigor is delivered where required; help available where necessary. Fun is always on offer. PHS middle schoolers matriculate on to excellent high schools of their choice (public and private), transition well and continue to excel. At a time when peer groups, academic expectations and social media can provide intense pressure, the PHS Middle School stays refreshingly drama-free and tight-knit, true to the school-wide philosophy of caring for the whole child. In line with the vision of its one-of a kind Principal, PHS provides the attention children need to develop the tools and self-worth that set them up for success. It really is that good and we couldn’t be more grateful.

Peninsula Heritage School is like an extended family! We are so happy to have found this lovely school!Within the first five days of its loving environment and generous hearts, the difference in my sweet boy has been monumental! After 75 days of suffering at his old school, his layers of hurt started to peel by the second day. He was a bit more like his old self: silly, giddy, skipping about, even singing in the shower again!! There were no emotional meltdowns, no crying, no worries. For a child that was recently diagnosed with Anxiety, he showed no signs of it the entire week!!He was able to fall asleep without problems each night, woke up happy each morning, and even ate all of his lunch everyday!!! Wow.To others these seem like small things, but everyone at PHS understands how huge these truly are for a child. A child that wears his heart on his sleeve, who is so eager to love and be loved, and will do anything to please those that encourage him.We thank the entire PHS staff whole heartedly for opening its arms and hearts to us. As I write this with tears streaming down my face, I feel so blessed to be a part of this beautiful community. Peninsula Heritage School really is the best Elementary school in the South Bay. The philosophy of differentiated learning allows the school to teach kids in both math and language arts at their own pace. My kids excel and were BORED in the local public schools. When you combine this with a robust performing arts program, science lab, music, PE and visual arts, you really do get the perfect school. My children are challenged, have a tremendous sense of self-confidence, and they LOVE school. What more could you want...

PHS is the best private school in the PV area. No other schools can compete with them in terms of academic, teachers and leaders. This school brings out the best in each and every child. The team is solid and nurturing. A Choice school !

My husband and I truly cannot speak highly enough of Peninsula Heritage School. The teaching staff are warm, nurturing and able to bring out the best in each and every student - socially, emotionally and academically. It provides an unmatched elementary school experience for our children and we could not be more delighted with the differentiated and child specific learning they receive, appropriate to their abilities and not merely their grade level. Guiding everything from the top is the phenomenal Principal, who is not only a dedicated and talented educator, but a caring and exceptional person. At the core of everything she does is to act first and foremost as an advocate for each child in the school and I sincerely believe the children feel the love and care they are given at PHS. All in all being at PHS has been an outstanding experience for our children. We feel so fortunate in the knowledge that they are receiving a first class education, a real sense of right and wrong, a great sense of self and a lifelong love of learning. All while having the best fun of their entire lives! It really does not get much better than this. Please check out this wonderful school.

At first, we looked at the "big-name" private schools and public schools in Palos Verdes because we didn't know too much about Peninsula Heritage. However, we had a very nasty experience with the head of one of the popular private schools (K-8) who was extremely condescending and seemed to only care about test scores. One of our friends recommended Peninsula Heritage and I'm so glad she did. Our children are doing very well academically, but also socially, artistically, and physically. It's a well-rounded curriculum. Since it's a small school, the students receive a high level of attention and instruction. I also like the fact that students can move up in math/reading if they are ready for it (like my daughter), or they will get extra help if they need it. I don't think any other school provides this flexibility to cater to your child's academic needs.

Times are tough but it is thru such times that the great school requires the support of the parents. PHS is definitely a choice school...the team is focus and committed to bring the best in every child.

Times are tough; a recession, a tsunami of debt, and international competition has made 2012 America an insecure place. We are worried about ourselves but we are especially worried about our kids and what future will lie before them. Our imagined remedy is a child safely ensconced in "academic excellence" fast tracking his way toward the next elite school and a big compensation package. Only a wise (and very confident) educator can stand against a trend that pressurizes childhood by defining success within a narrow band of mathematical and verbal prowess. Yes, these surely matter and PHS delivers them but what of imagination, emotional strength, and self-knowledge? Is your child a little different? Good. Americans like Thoreau, Emerson, and even Steven Jobs had an expansive definition of human greatness centered on the singular genius of the individual. We still revere individuality but schools increasing seem to fear it as evinced by the obsession with objective metrics and mood-moderating pharmaceuticals. Honestly, schools today are a little scary. In the midst of this fog PHS delivers academic rigor while retaining its sense of wonderment about the nature of childhood itself.

My two children have flourished under the tutelage of Peninsula Heritage School s guidance and tutelage. I also appreciate all that the principal has done for my children. You just do not except someone so intelligent to be so considerate. While I know they recently added a sixth grade, I am hoping that they decided to add a seventh, eight, and maybe even a high school.

I decided to write a review after my experience at PHS yesterday. I have a second and a fifth grader and usually pick them up at 3:20, when my oldest is out of class. However, I was detained yesterday and while I wasn't worried about my kids (they immediately check into after school care, get snacks and play and usually complain I am too early), I did think they might start to worry about me! So I called the school. The principal, Mrs. Cailler, picked up the phone herself and when I told her my situation, she said she would go on to the school yard and check in with my children and let them know I would be there soon. I hung up and thought, "only at PHS would the principal leave her office and walk out to the yard herself without giving it a second thought." PHS in one of those exceptional schools that you have to come see for yourself. My children race off to school every morning. They come home bubbling over with news about their day and what they learned. The principal is nurturing, loving, and passionate about her school and her staff shares those same qualities. My children have bloomed since we switched to PHS and will be lifetime learners as a result!
