KTHS was the worst school I have attended in my life. I was extremely unhappy all of the time due to what I had to deal with on a daily basis. Dropping out would have been a better descision. If you want your child to be unsuccessful in life, I would recomend KTHS.

My daughter went to a pre-k at KTS. The overall staff OT, Speech Therapist, psychologist, aids staff were good but the teacher assigned to the classroom wasn't that great. She had never shared monthly planned activity schedule or provide any weekly or daily schedule of what is done in the class. She would repeat same activities with a kid in a classroom even the child has already mastered that skill. After school, if you try to talk to her to know what she did in the classroom, she would try to avoid communication. She would only talk to a couple parents who are in her favorite list. KTS is very expensive school, if you had to pay all the money from your pocket. They try to communicate with parents very effectively during summer, by providing progress reports, detailed activity in the class room, etc but as soon as you do the contract for the fall, none of this happens..they make excuses for not having enough staff, and try to push for 1-1 supports for the kid even though the kid doesn't need it. luckily, my daughter didn't need it but other parents told me they push for it if a kid is behind so they can make more $$$......

My son was struggling at our very good local public elementary school. He was falling drastically behind and they were not able to admit that they weren’t able to provide the kind of teaching and support he needs. Katherine Thomas has transformed his life. From a very withdrawn and insecure child to an open and happy child who is really learning both academically as well as socially. Katherine Thomas is a gem. They really understand, accept and love the kids and I help them come alive.

What can I say!!!!! This is one of the best schools my child has EVERY attended. Leaving DC public schools was and still is worth every trip back and forth from DC to Rockvill Md. When I say they care I mean it. If your child is struggling PLEASE PLEASE get with your advocate ASAP!!!! This school will meet your childs every needs. They take time with the children and most of all.... THEY ARE LEARNING! !!!!! At his or her own pace. I love EVERYTHING about this school and you will too.

KTS helped our child enormously in pre-K through 1st grade. She is now at a mainstream private school performing at the top of her class. She needed help with social thinking, language pragmatics, and OT, all of which KTS provided in abundance. She was very happy at KTS, which provided a secure and fulfilling environment. KTS's speech pathologists are especially good, asis their OT instruction. They also create fun opportunities for kids in the arts. Truly the best we found for kids with social thinking challenges, and we looked at a lot of schools.
