The Principal (Ms. Mondt) set the tone at school. She is very knowledgeable, compassionate, honest and extreme supportive of the children and staff at the same time. You breathe a positive energy the moment you set foot on the campus.Teachers are caring and work as a team to address the child’s needs.Ms. Mondt is very approachable and (if you are a parent) she will work with you with a mutual respect. She is the best Principal in Alvord USD and that is why Lake Hills is the best school in the district.JR.

Lake Hills has a wonderful family engagement practice. They are consistently communicating through monthly Principal Newsletters, monthly social-emotional character trait newsletters, messages home from the teachers using ParentSquare or ClassDojo, the giant marquee out front, flyers sent home, etc. The school works hard to have regular events where families can be involved, such as Book Picnic, Donuts with Grown-ups, family Glow Dance party, movie nights, etc. Each year has different events spread out throughout the year. They provide regular awards assemblies and invite the parents of students who earned an award. They also have a program for father-figures to encourage male participation in volunteering at the school. The campus has good security, with gate key or office only access to the campus as well as supervisors monitoring students during unstructured times. I have two children enrolled and they are both doing very well academically, they have been provided support in areas of need. They have a teacher out of the classroom that provides special support to students who are struggling with reading, and another who provides special support for students who are struggling in math. The staff is always respectful and try their best to be collaborative and inclusive. There is a full time School Counselor who provides monthly social/emotional lessons, college and career exploration events such as career day, small groups, individual support, connection to community resources, etc.Overall as a parent, as well as a fellow educator, I feel very comfortable sending my children to this school. In the years I have been a part of this school, I have been extremely satisfied and I would highly recommend it to other families. There has been a few things here and there that have come up, as is expected, but the Principal and/or the teachers are quick to listen to my concerns and collaborate with me as to finding a solution. If others are looking into the school, keep in mind that most reviews are posted from people who are discouraged by a situation that occurred. I recommend contacting the school, talking to the Principal, or even scheduling a tour to help you feel more comfortable with the school and it's environment.

It's a great school! Now I go to a private school and let me just say... When one of my teacher says, "do you guys remember (blank) from elementary?" I don't. Because we never learned that. Another person said that this school is one year behind private schools. I totally agree. I thought the school was alright though during my time.

The physical structure of the buildings themselves are nice because the school is relatively new and the principal is fantastic, however my kids aren't learning ANYTHING here...almost the whole day is a waste. That is CA public schools though...#45 in the country...this school is almost a year, a whole YEAR, behind private schools! They move SO SLOW through the curriculum which is why all kids from CA public schools are severely behind. There are like 10 nonsensical stop signs just to even get to the school, with cops hiding by houses to give out tockets...the whole experience is pretty terrible. After all the tax dollars, the school still begs for donations, and if you want to have your kids experience art, well you have to pay for that too!

We’ve been at Lake Hills for 5 years now, it is an amazing school! Both of my daughters excel here because of the teachers. The principal is awesome and very involved!

After two weeks of school I am so happy that my husband and I enrolled our first and fourth grader at this school. I had them in at a private school and it wasn't a good experience. I love their teachers Mrs. Wilson and Mrs. Aragon. When we registered them at school I got a tour of the campus from the principal and Ramona in the office helped me out so much in filling out the forms. The positive energy is fantastic. We love it and I am saving tons of money. I never thought a public school could be this great.

Things run pretty smoothly at Lake Hills. I have issues with the parking lot being closed at prime drop off time so walking my kindergartner up the street hills and up the parking lot hill thru the office and to his class is very tedious and frustrating at the same time. I feel bad for the disabled parents that have to walk up the hill to kindergarten and have to park in the street when there is disabled parking in the closed off parking lot. Other than that, great staff and my son has been in kinder for 2 weeks and I already see him learning new things.

My kids are going to the 2nd grade and KG in this school. This is the best school I had ever seen. The teachers are excellent, treat the students as their own kids, encourage and applaud them all thro' the year. Also communicate with each parent regularly thro' personalized emails. The principal Mr.Burns is very very friendly, both with the parents and kids. They have great programs like Math Challenge, summer reading etc. In short, best school ever :-)

My daughter started as a Kinder when the school opened in 2007 and will now be in 4th grade. The principal, teachers and the rest of the staff are one in a million. Could not ask for anything more. Keep up the great work.

This school is absolutely amazing. Every staff member works hard to insure that all students master the grade level requirements. The new principal is easy to work with it and handles any issues promptly and professionally.

I dislike this school , if your not on the PTA they really don't care about you or your child. This is our 1st and last year at this school.

Our family recently moved to the area and my 2nd grade son began attending Lake Hills. My husband and I are especially greatful for the level of positivity that is exemplified throughout the schoolwide systems. This school celebrates EVERYTHING and finds the positive in the child over finding the negative in the child. My son absolutely loves the classroom activities and positive culture/environment of the school's structure. I am VERY pleased with Lake Hills.

I moved to Lake Hill Reverse for a year from Garden Grove, Orange County. My son was schooling 3 years in private school. I was worry about public schooling in Riverside since most of them have very slow score. However, after a year in 2nd grade, I realized Lake Hills Element school is a very good school. The principle is very hand-ons/busy "staff". I am happy with school staffs and all activities in school. Few thing I concern is big gaps among student levels in class. Some students are excellent, but some of them are too low. It will give teacher hard time to teach...Hope, the principle figures out a way to deal with this.

My kids used to go to private school, and I was going to keep it that way until we just couldn't afford it. I was blown away with the fact that public school can be so much better then private. I wish I enroled my kids in this school two years ago. Everybody from the principal to the lunch lady are amazing. My kids adore their teachers.
