I don't feel safe when I come here everyday. Their ID system to protect the school doesn't nothing, you get suspended if you don't bring this piece of plastic E-waste to their school every day. The entire school is dirty and filled with garbage, unclean toilets, and in every bathroom, only one sink works. The staff give the same punishment to kids who beat up other kids to kids who don't bring their ID cards to school. The security are useless as all they do is stand around the school looking at their phones. They put security in the bathrooms doorways in the morning and kids still get away with doing drugs in the bathroom, the school district is very poor so we don't get the same opportunities as other schools either.

This is probably one of the worst high-schools on Long Island. From the faculty to overall school environment, it’s a completely depressing. Feels like walking into a cold office building everyday. Smells nasty in the hallway and you can barely walk a straight line without getting shoved around and touched by everyone. That’s one of the reasons why disease spreads so rampant here. There are a small HANDFUL of good teachers. The rest are completely unreasonable and have very bad, nasty attitudes. Not to mention, the school spirit is non existent. No one wants to be there including faculty!! Unfriendly environment. CHOOSE ANOTHER SCHOOL FOR YOUR KID!!!

School sucks. We get threats every single week and the school does nothing about it. They want to look good but won't fufill our actual needs.

This school is horrible. No one actually gets alongthe school doesn't seem to care about the studentsafety unless the board of education getsinvolved. Honestly just don't go here it's horrible.Plus the amount of threats the schools gets isterrible. And the psychologist at the school are badtoo. Like are they even doing there job. There havebeen some student who actually need help and have been brave enough to talk about there struggles and problems, but the school does nothing, and there are people who are perfectly fine and are receiving help. And the students at the school are just as bad especially the ones who are very open about their racism. And they treat the student with disabilities like outcast (the students). So don't count on this school to actually provide your kid with actual care trust me I'm a student at this school and it's like hell here.

6 mos in st the HS level with three students and 1 in grammar school. (after the local private school closed)We started out in the district with students in Riley Ave 12 years ago. It was a decent district then albeit terrible for our IEP student ( hence the private school jump) been in this district for 20 years as residents. It’s now a failed district though NYS changed the labeling if you read up on its stars you’ll see it’s no place you want current students if you can help it.

Diversity is a strength. AP classes are available and well taught. Latin program is excellent. The school orchestra string program, jazz band and choir are all excellent. You might have to know the guidance counselor to get into smart physics in 9 th grade, don’t let the counselor intimidate you if you know your kid is smart. Make sure to have them put your kid in smart physics, great opportunity for kids.

Within our wonderful Riverhead High School, there is a club that has a great group of students involved in a leadership program called Key Club. These students work in all areas if the community to provide volunteer hours where needed; from raising finds for homeless programs by sleeping outside themselves to face painting at school carnivals. At the present time, trey are collecting prom dresses and other items to provide for anyone who needs a dress. These funds would be added to help any one who needed assistance on the school.

When we move out to Riverhead we had concerns simply based on what other people were telling us. What we found and have experieced is the complete opposite! The Riverhead District is by far one of the best on the east end. The smaller districts don't compare with the programs that are offered. The community recently step up and approved over 80 million in renovations. I assume it gets a bad rap due to the diversity but that provides a real world learning environment for the students. The kids will all benefit in the long run both academically and character. It's sad how some parents are closed minded and only look for schools with no diversity. I don't understand why this site only gives it 3 stars when the majority reviews are 4 and 5. The couple 1 and 2s are over 10 yrs ago.
