Too much bullying by students and teachers. Do not send your child here!

This has been an amazing school! The teachers have been very involved and responsive. Anytime there has been an issue, it has been resolved. My son absolutely loves this school and am surprised it’s not higher rated! This school has high expectations and a high level of learning!

I am in middle school now and I have been at Watauga Elementary for 6 years. The teachers are wonderful, the principal is very loving and understands when people have hard times. If people are considering to let their children leave the school, then you are totally wrong. Sure there are some teachers who are strict and they can only handle so much, but let the teachers have a chance to prove that they are actually not that bad, they are really good. The homework though, I didn’t have that much, that’s why I put it on neutral.

My son is now in the 5th grade at this school. He has told me multiple times that his teacher has told him and other students that they "get on her nerves". He has also been bullied by one kid and all she does is separate my son from everyone else and never tries to solve the problem and clearly lies to the principal when my son has brought it up. She diliberitly does not give him permission slips to trips to get signed until the day before, it has happened at least 3 times. For the record his 4th grade teacher was not that great either but I feel like his current teacher has something against him. I'm seriously considering not letting my daughter attend there this year. The only reason I give it 2 stars is because I think the principal actually cares.

I have taken my kid out of this school. I find it to be a mixed bag of good teachers and some sorry teachers. Most parents never have an issue with the facility but be warned if you do be aware that they close rank and will never admit wrong doing. Complete lack of accountability. They are too concerned with the State Test score than actually teaching. We took our kid down the road to a private school and they are thriving. It's not a horrible school just average five stars rating is silly. They are not even close to that score. It has been several years since we attended so thing may have changed but before the rezone it was a mess. If your giving them five star your bar for your children are clearly low.

The principal and teachers are so attentive and loving. Great school in a great community. We love it here!

This is the best school I've ever been a part of! Since re-zoning, the classes are smaller and students have more opportunities for individual instruction. Staff assists teachers with structured programs for lower performing students. The principal is a great leader and holds the staff and teachers to a high standard, while maintaining a friendly, "family" type atmosphere. All employees are truly interested in every student reaching his/her highest potential. Watauga has consistently been one of the highest performing elementary schools in the county. (this site names Watauga as a pre-K-5th grade school. -- there is not a pre-k at this time)
