Bullying is a huge problem at this school. To the reviewer that said they shun you if you're different, it's the truth. I'm no longer a current student, I left for obvious reasons, but the way that other highschoolers act is terrible, especially the football boys. You will never hear more racial slurs in the span of 5 minutes than going back and fourth down the school hallways. Most kids are also on their phone all class period (in my experience, unless it was a math class, as the math teachers (at least mine) seemed stricter), kids dont care about their education here. I met probably less than 10 kids that actually wanted to go to college, not that thats a bad thing, but to the point it disrupts other peoples learning when they'd talk and talk and the teachers are trying to teach and have to rush through the end of the year because other kids are being absolute nuisances. Shout out to my chemistry teacher for making my life here less terrible. If you see any good reviews (most likely over 3 stars) be wary of the truth if its a teacher or otherwise not a student.

To get straight to the point my child will not be coming here anymore, all I know is that he was working while going to school here and ended up stealing money. The school must have had a bad influence on him with the wrong crowd. I am appalled.

I would give this school a 2 out of 5 stars. Surely there are worse schools out there who deserve the 1 star rating, but we chose this community to move into because of the high ratings of this school. The ratings are wrong. The school itself is average at best, and the kids are positively hateful. Intelligent children should be celebrated, because in this community they are as rare as diamonds. But they are not celebrated. They are teased and mocked and belittled for their intelligence. The leadership did nothing. Some of the teachers try to be supportive and positive, and the vice-principals have tried to be supportive and understanding, even if they are completely ineffective at stopping the bullying. This school has very hateful small-minded community of kids who are not welcoming to outsiders. If you are an outsider with intelligent kids, do not move here. If you do move here, homeschool your kids.

My children came from Williamson Co schools where education matters. When I saw how Greenbrier students were allowed cell phone use (I check my child's cell phone usage in class and was appalled at them being able to text more than 50 times a day at school. Needless to say they are no longer allowed to bring their phones to school. Shouldn't the teachers be aware this is going on? Apparently not. SAD to say the least. I'm moving to another county in other for my children to get a better education to prepare for college.

Education wise it was a good school but the leadership at the school is terrible .You have to be in the family circle and Greenbrier to be treated fairly if not you get put to the bottom of the list .

I moved from Davidson county in 1990 just so my kids could attend their neighborhood schools. Both my sons attended Watauga, Greenbrier Middle & Greenbrier HS. They graduated with kids they went to kindergarden with. Can you say that about other areas? That alone means alot but all through their time at these schools, they had wonderful teachers except for maybe 1 or 2 here & there but you get that at any school. My youngest graduated in 2009 and we are very proud of all the schools and strongly recommend them to anyone.

I work with a very professional group of educators. The atmosphere is very upbeat and condusive to the students learning and safety. As with any school, the student will get out of it equal to what they put into it. The student that is there to learn and have a positive experience will do so. The student that is there to cause problems will do so and bring problems on himself. Attitude is everything.

I think it's interesting to read these comments, however, I wonder how many truly haven't experienced GHS firsthand and are just writing out of spite. Regarding the post on December 13, stating that GHS is lacking in teaching and preparation for college, I have a rebuttal. I have 3 graduates from GHS. My first struggled with Math skills but was offered tutoring after school by the late Sherry Freeland. With her help, my child improved greatly and graduated to go on to become a business professional. My second and third were active in many leadership roles while scoring mid 30's on ACTs. They both were awarded many scholarships, and went on to do well in college. My last has maintained a Summa cum Laude rank throughout college years. This is only from the base starting point of teachers that showed how to succeed and the desire to learn which GHS teachers instill. As far as sports favoritsm, everyone likes a "hero". But I do not ever "run into" any teacher that my children have had in the past (many years later) that those teachers do not ask about them or their current lives. That is the difference of a teacher and someone that cares. GHS has both.

As I read through these comments, I was literly shocked by some of the comments on here. I have had my son in a couple different schools, and he now goes to GHS, and is excelling beetter there than with any previous school. It is a safe school, the teachers truley care for their students from what I have seen, and to hear other parents bash this school truley amazes me. Maybe if your kid wasn't lazy, and didn't try to succeed, maybe they would have done better. GHS is a great school, try sending your kid to Two Rivers, and see how that one goes over!.
