RCS has gone completely down hill. I don't know what they do to excellent teachers, but just look at the numbers. Last year they had almost 500 students with a waiting list. This year they have just over 200. The teachers are arrogant and down right cruel, to students. They don't care to teach, they only want to belittle our children. They say they value technology, but the websites are from teachers who left and they don't even bother to update with new information. Just plain strange. I know this is why we left and literally several hundred others. Go to Gateway any way possible!

This is the most supportive public school I've ever seen! My kids attended this school several years ago and have since gone on to college where they are still excited about learning! That phrase the school uses about creating lifelong learners was true for my kids. I volunteered at the school when my kids attended and still actively volunteer there, not only because of the sense of "family," but because there is a clear purpose: teach kids in such a way that they crave more. No school is perfect, but in my opinion this school exemplifies why charter schools were created.

My school has been invited to apply for distinguished school status based on the growth, increase, or improvement in state student test scores. The students, parents, and staff have worked together to keep class sizes low, to increase the number of classrooms, to prevent combination classes, and to improve curricular/extra curricular programs.

Ridgecrest Charter School is your best option around. FREE! Easy dress code; no buying trendy clothing and wasting money. Most teachers are great - but ask for their test scores so you know what you're getting. If your child needs help great teachers will let you know at the first report card and offer free tutoring! They have clubs and computer training. Mrs. Ellingsworth is very approachable and will listen you your child's needs - with solutions. It is really too bad that Sierra Sands won't let them be a part of their district. My children have been going there for 1, 3, 5, and 6 years. I hope they stay open!

The many things that I could say about this school and my families experience, could fill up a few pages. This is my sons second year at RCS and we wish that we would have transferred him to another school in town. The office staff rarely knows what is going on from day to day, the lunch program is something to be desired, and there is a sense of general confusion and disorganization throughout the entire school. My son is often charged for lunches that he has not purchased, and this has happened on more than one account. Despite my families best efforts, my sons current teacher will not maintain the level of communication needed between both parties. These issues have gotten so sever that we are now scheduled for a conference with the administration to discuss said problems. I have personally seen favoritism at this school numerous times. The academic expectations at this school are set very high, yet the methods of teaching do not guide the students to achieve such goals. My sons teacher has been recommending from week 6 of school that he would make a great retention candidate, which is entirely too early to give such sever criticism. Consider another school before this one!

RCS is the rare place that truly inspires kids to behave and excel. RCS teachers have high expectations and they engage the kids. Kids are lead on an amazing learning adventure. Since starting at RCS, my child has been transformed from a lackluster student into an engaged and eager learner. She now comes home eager to share her insights. I am incredibly thankful for the amazing teachers, staff and administration at RCS. Thank you all for going above and beyond and creating the kind of place where it is cool to be smart!!!

Ridgecrest Charter School is a truly exceptional school. My grandchildren's state test scores have sky rocketed since my daughter pulled them from the surrounding district school three years ago. I volunteer often and am amazed at the professionalsim I see with the staff. There is no better school in Ridgecrest.

My grandchildren are excelling at RCS. Since pulling them from the surrounding district, their test schores have zoomed! They are happy to get up and go to school now. Whenever I volunteer, the staff is amazing especially the principal that can often be seen playing basketball or jump rope at recess with the students.

I am happy with the high standard RCS holds my children to. The school operate as a team of parents and teachers. There seems to be a balance between academics and fun. Charter works very hard to keep my children safe.

The administration and teachers strive to ensure my child gets caught up. After school tutoring with the teacher 2 days a week and the computer lab 2 days a week. There are so many clubs, science and cooking are my daughters favorite. The administration is always available, no appointment necessary! As a parent I have never had the ability to speak directly with the administration whenever I want.

RCS is an awesome school with an excellent staff. I have one child there this year and another starting next year. The extracurricular activities they offer are second to none. My daughter has been in Science Club since Kindergarten, and she cannot wait to get into cooking club when she enters 2nd grade. My family has really benefitted from our involvement with this school. They encourage participation at any/every level and always welcome younger siblings to join in, which fosters a real 'family' atmosphere. The teachers and administration are very accessible, as well as completely open to ideas for improvement. We are impressed with all the changes this school has made over the past couple years, and also excited for the projects/improvements they have planned for the future.

My daughters STAR scores were much higher than the last school she attended yet she still was getting low grades something is not right here.

This school is continuing to grow and improve. Over the last year the student population has grown from 178 to 270... this should send a strong message to the community. Additionally, the STAR scores have risen from 736 to 841! I wish they would create a high school!
