Under the leadership of Mr. Durniak Montrose Elementary School is becoming such a positive place to be! The children really respond to his mutually, respectful caring ways! He's always available to teachers and parents and truly cares about this school and seeing it become more successful! Mrs. Blount and Mrs. Budny add to this wonderful administrative leadership! It's a nice place to work because of all of the dedicated caring staff members!

My son has been attending Montrose elementary since 2011, there is one issue that needs to be dealt with. During drop-offs in the morning, the parking lot is chocked and traffic is slow which could cause a student to be late. In the beginning of the year, the traffic was flowing but not anymore. A new school principal has been appointed and I am hoping that he will do a better job at increasing the school ratings. I also believe that the teachers are competent and are doing the best to follow the curriculum.

The school is completely unable to handle any student with needs outside of the "normal". It has been my experience that they ignore medical diagnosis and simply send the child home bc it "is not their responsibility" or bc "they simply can not handle it" or the best was " you know your child will just be suspended anyway if you don't come pick them up soon". They have neglected several times to inform us when our child was injured, and when asked about it, put the blame on the child. The principal has even spoken inappropriately at this student of special needs when they tried to apologize for something, goading them with "really, are you, really?" To an autistic child! So glad this child is getting away from the negligence and pure ignorance of this staff!
