As a long-time Green Valley parent, I have only good things to say about our years there. GV provides a strong sense of community and family partnership. Every one of my children's teachers has been outstanding. The admin truly loves and values students. My kids have been involved in school sports, choir, band, student leadership, and a wide variety enrichment classes. Overall a great experience.

My daughter has gone here since Kindergarten and enjoyed her Kinder and first grade teachers. But problems arrived with the staff when she was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder and I requested a 504 plan with the teacher and principal and never heard back after providing documentation. Then again this year I requested a 504 plan with her new teacher and nothing was done again, which has caused her to fall behind in 3rd grade. Due to their lack of support for my child she could be held back if I dont catch her up myself at home with workbooks. She tells her teacher she doesn't understand her math and is told to just "do her best work". This will not help a struggling child. This school sadly does not care about children needing extra help or falling behind. Only about attendance and test scores.

My son was there in 3-5th (2011-13(?)) And they DID NOT prepare him for 6th... He miraculously received A's in 5th doing cookie cutter work and he's a solid C student... Then failed 6th because he was behind... Then fast fwd to 2020 with my 4th grader who they did 1h of school a day and the same stuff EVERY SINGLE DAY... And he's my school-kid getting at least Bs! He didn't learn a thing and all the teacher could say was "well I have a lot of ESL students this year.... " That's when I had it and pulled him out to private school... Don't ruin your child's brain at this school...

There is more positive than negative. My oldest child has had a great experience, but my younger son has not been so fortunate. There are 24 students in a kindergarten class filled with children with a huge learning gap. The younger children who need more support are not able to receive it.

We started here in 2009 and have been pleased with all the teachers and staff.

I agree with past comments that getting involved is the best way to get the most out of this school. Especially now that fingerprinting is required, pay your $40 and pitch in! The staff are all pretty accommodating and love volunteers. They have done an honorable job with getting on board with Common Core, which is no small task--especially with the older grades! There are lots of social activities, throughout the school year, for the students and families to participate in. I don't like the silly playground rules, either, but the kids all seem to find ways to play and have fun.

Overall the school is good. there are some great teachers, others less so. School grounds and extra curricular activities could always use some improvements. Every negative review I read is almost certainly coming from the parents who stand on the sidelines. Get involved and volunteer, you will see there are plenty of parents, teachers, and school administrators working to make this school as best as possible.

My Son has attended this school since 2nd grade. The teachers are absolutely fabulous. The schools Yard Duties and other staff and super friendly and have fun with the kids. There are things that need to be worked on, but what school is absolutely perfect. Teachers, Admin, Staff and Parents are what make a good school even better. I definite suggest getting involved with the school. Find out what they need help with. The Arts, help in class, the PTO. There is so much in the way of volunteering that will only enhance not only your child but every child that goes to that school. The school itself is really good. The district needs some help. But like I have said. No district is perfect and we need more parent volunteers and parents attending board meetings letting the school know what and how we would like to see change. If you say nothing or do nothing, nothing will ever change!!

The communication at this school is horrendous. To be fair, I am not sure if it is just this school or the entire district. The principal is nice but has no idea how to run a diverse and complicated school. Bullying? They are lost. Exceptional children? No support programs at all. Parents are not welcome (this is district wide- not invited to a middle school talent show either). I asked a teacher when the play was being performed as I wanted to come watch my son and she said she would find out and get back to me but never did! There are active parents trying to create some semblance of community but as long as there are unhappy teachers and a severe lack of communication, there will be no improvement. Oh, and kindergarteners walk themselves to and from the bus!!

I have a child in this school whom is now in kinder and also attended pre-k last year. I have got to say this school has went WAY downhill since I moved into sierra crossing. I think the teachers are great so far, but the school in itself is falling apart. They first off had the field closed a few years ago and re-seeded the whole field, had awesome grass and then what did they do? No sprinklers and let it completely go to hell where in the summer its dead and full of weeds. Recess is usually a time for kids to get their energy out and guess what, now they are told they can't run during this time which has become a joke!!! Before school if we show up early the kids get in trouble for playing on the play ground waiting for school to start... its has a major lack of leadership and quite frankly I cannot stand it now to where I have put my home on the market and looking to move to GB or rocklin for better schools, better fields, and overall better ratings. I'm supposed to be setting a foundation for my son and he is definitely not getting 100% of it from Green Valley. I cannot wait to get him into a better school.

Terrible school. It has only gone downhill since we started in kindergarten. Every year they beg for money every which way from the parents. The Principal is uninvolved as much as possible and the new vice-principal would rather fight with parents and be right than find a solution for the children. RULES RULES RULES for the poor kids and they must think we're stupid, We know they're not for the "safety" of the children. They are to support the lazy staff. The kids might as well stand in one place during recess and not talk to their friends. The lunch ladies and some yard duties are like drill sergeants that actually scream at the kids for talking too loud during lunch time! Give me a break:/ Class parties most often look like kids being quiet and being forced to watch a movie. I could go on and on...Don't send your children here if you have another option.

The principal and teachers at this school are terrific! They work very hard and the environment is friendly. Many criticize the lower test scores compared to other schools in the area, but it is not a fair comparison due to the ESL students we have. Any school with several ESL students would face the same test scores. Test scores are not the only measure of an effective staff. Great school!

I have 2 children at this school and looking for a new one. I have never been impressed with this school, but didn't want to take my daughter away from her friends. The principle is nice as well as stylish, but lacking in good leadership. The rules get worse every year on the playground. .it seems like every time a child gets hurt.. which is what happens with children....duh! ...they make another rule... no cartwheels.. no running pretty much anywhere, no dodgeball, no sitting on top of the bars..etc. etc... ugh, where does it end? Should the kids just not be allowed outside? Sad environment for a child. More suitable for adults/teachers. With too many children per classroom, there is more group control and stressed out teachers than individual care. I would like to know where all of the thousands of dollars of donations and grants they are receiving each year are going because its definitely not to extracurricular programs.

Well, I had written a review but someone reported it and had it deleted. Kind of goes to show how low the people that work there can sink. I'm tired of my 3 kids having issues. No one seems to do anything about the bullying. Several parents I talk to hate the school. People feel like they have no other option. Some of the teachers are WONDERFUL! I love them, but that doesn't make up for lack of care from Administration, kids getting picked on, inappropriate conversations from staff around children or the lack of good quality education. Classrooms are over crowded, there's no real help. The school doesn't have a lot of money and the kids suffer. This used to be a fabulous school, too bad it declines every year. The last 3 years especially. If you have another option, I highly recommend your child(ren) go elsewhere. Maybe if parents banded together, the school could change for the better.

Have have two children attending GVS and I must say over all this has been a great school for us. We have had good, bad and great experiences here. We love the teachers and the principle! I feel like you get what you give when your children go to public school..... Get involved, be proactive, know the staff and your child will be better off for it!

After years of terrible teachers (yelling, ripping up papers, making students cry in k-3!) and working with the principal only to be dismissed, we pulled our children out of this school. the principal has no interest in children, the teachers are only looking out for their best interests (ie paycheck) when many should retire and the good ones have been laid off. The unions run this district, not the students and this school is a sad result.

I am not at all satisfied with this school. I have 2 children who go to this school, one of which has a definite learning disability and possible ADD. The teachers are all very quick to point out that your child is falling behind or failing, but nothing gets done about it!! My husband and I work very hard with our children at home and expect the same from the school. When we meet with teachers/administrators, they have absolutely no advice for us and have no idea of what to do to help my child thrive. There is approximately 30 kids to a classroom and ONE teacher. I volunteer in the classroom weekly and am able to witness this mess. My slow learner is getting left behind...what happened to "no child left behind"? Fortunately, my other child is doing okay but I feel this school is not enabling him to meet his full potential. Unfortunately, we're looking into private schools.
