My son is going to be kindergartener here at Torchlight. So far, so good. I love it here, I love the atmosphere, all the teachers. I met Mr. Rogers, one of the 1st grade teachers and a couple of transportation. I think he is going to be a good fit for here.

I want to add on to what I was saying that when my kids were going to public school, they were labeled as behavior problem. Now, as they come to Torchlight Academy, I hope that they are surrounded by people who love and care about their education instead of just labeling them and trying to help them.

We just recently moved to Raleigh, and we chose Torchlight because we were really looking for a school that offered really diverse programs. Programs that have to do with the culture that we appreciated as far as art and music. So far so good. I really enjoy the environment at Torchlight, I'm really enjoying the teacher’s motivation and the energy they’re bringing, the dedication they're bringing. I just met Doctor Blue, the principal, and he seems very excited. Motivated for this school year. Which reassures me that my daughter is in a place where she's going to be able to learn to be able to grow, expand, and just be able to enjoy the time that she spends at school and come home to look forward to expanding her education, so you know, shout out to torchlight, and we're looking forward to an amazing school year this year.

Torchlight is a wonderful school. They're helping the kids grow and learn about the community by helping each other. All sorts of ethnicities, plus, they're having a lot of fun. We have a young daughter about to come here soon too. We really enjoy the hospitality of the people here. It's great!

My son will no longer be going to Torchlight Academy. We moved to another county so he will be attending another school. To his teacher: You were a great teacher and I really hate he will be losing you as a teacher. You are awesome and wonderful. I wish you the best and I hate to say goodbye.

Dear Torchlight Teacher, I just wanted to let you know that my husband and I feel you are doing an awesome job and we Thank You.My son loves you and is excited to sign on in the mornings. He's been counting down the days until he gets to do school in the building with you.We were so concern about how this all would be for him, especially since this is his first year in school but I must say, you have really been great throughout this process thus far.I know it's not easy dealing with the students (giving the current situation) and it takes great patience (which you have). Best Regards

We love torchlight. She’s been coming here since kindergarten. We love the fact that they learn about their heritage all year long. We appreciate the free transportation, the free meals, the after-school programs. Dr. McQueen has always been a blessing. We love the teachers, the staff, everything has been awesome. We recommend the school to anyone.

My two sons just graduated from Torchlight Academy. They have been at Torchlight since Kindergarten. When I was looking for a good school for one when he turned 5 years old, I was very worried about where to place him, until I ran into a lady who referred me to Torchlight Academy and have never had any regrets since they started Kindergarten. I just wish there were more schools like this from k-12, with so much passion to educate children and push them to excellence. We just want to thank their teachers from Kindergarten to 8th grade. I recently looked at one of my son's Math workbook. I was so amazed to see how one of the teachers engages the children in Math. She is a great asset to the School. The teachers at Torchlight are all great teachers that helped to educate and mold them to the boys that they are today. We also want to thank all the other staffs, Principals, and most importantly, the great leaders and founders of this school, the wonderful Mr. Don McQueen and the amazing Dr. Cynthia McQueen. You all have contributed to the academic and psychological growth of our children, not to forget the discipline you instilled in them. This quarantine period has taught us (parents) how important a teacher’s jobs are. We can’t do your job. You have one of the hardest jobs. Thank you for all you did throughout this pandemic period.

My daughter is a 6th grader here at Torchlight. She’s in an all girls class. She has been a student at Torchlight Academy since kindergarten. I love, love the school. Would not consider putting her anywhere else. I do have two grandchildren and one will be 5 soon, and he will be at Torchlight as well. I love the versatility of Torchlight. I love the different languages that she’s learned and I absolutely love the drills because it has taught her a lot as well. The teaching has been great. It’s a great experience, a great environment, and a positive school. Come to Torchlight! You’ll love it!

I had two children who attended this school. I sincerely appreciate what they are doing over there. They take in students who other schools and teachers may give up on and overlook. I love the fact that they display culturally relevant images throughout the school and help students of color see and respect themselves. Seeing oneself in their education is very important and makes what they are learning relevant. My only issue was that, with them accepting students with behavioral or emotional issues, it was hard for my son to function in what could sometimes be a volatile environment. He would often come home with stories of children with outbursts, fights, and other disciplinary issues. And although I commend the staff for helping these children and not turning their backs on them, I have to say that it made it really hard for my son to stay on task and focused. That's the only reason I pulled him out. I wish they could somehow address this issue. I'm not sure how you would go about separating those that are causing frequent disturbances in the classroom, I know that they need their education as well. I'd just hate to see Torchlight become a place for solely for children with these behavioral concerns, as they have so much to offer everyone.

I am writing this letter to express the exceptional job Dr. McQueen has been doing running Torchlight Academy. You can see the sincere concern she has for the students, staff and how the daily functions of the school operate. She works hard to see that there is a cause behind Torchlight and that Torchlight has a specific reason for existing. That reason and that cause are to educate the mind, body and souls of each every student, as well as each and every adult in the building. That is the reason I am here and glad to say that I am a part of this mission. I am also glad and proud to work under such a diligent leader who truly cares.M. Smith 3rd Grade Teacher

I am thankful that my children are able to attend Torchlight Academy because they do so much for the community. I love the educational field trips that they take the children on. I hope Torchlight is always here. The teachers are great. You can always speak with the Principal, Dr. Cynthia McQueen, who is concerned about our children. They are very dedicated.L. Uben

It is with great pleasure to speak on behalf of Torchlight Academy as a concerned and involved parent. with all of the wonderful aspects of Torchlight Academy, it is had to narrow the choices down to one aspect. There are few places I would send my precious cargo (CHILDREN) in Raleigh, NC school. After reviewing the choices available to our family of five, my husband and I were drawn to Torchlight Academy because of the wonderful learning environment it affords all of it children. The learning environment at Torchlight Academy encompasses children from diverse backgrounds, the cultural aspect in its children, the exclusivity, the compassion of the teachers and the family atmosphere. I am proud to say that our children attend such a wonderful school and are pleased with the results we see in our children and others every single day. I can not say enough about this school and will close by saying that Torchlight Academy offers what many do not; a wonderful learning environment for Raleigh's children with a passion to bring out every child's unique potential.Chives-Davis Family
