The thing that sets this school apart is the incredible sense of community and genuine care for the students. It’s small and quaint. Excellent and welcoming PTA, including a group for the Dads specifically. Administration is patient, kind, competent, and communicative. We feel lucky to send our children here.

I cannot say enough good things about this school. Olds has a wonderful sense of community. I think that’s what stands out the most to me. It’s a small school, and the staff (ALL staff) make an effort to know the students. Parents are very involved and supportive and the PTA is amazing and welcoming! They have a group for the dads called DOFO’s (Dads of Fred Olds) and it’s unique in its ability to encourage volunteerism from ALL parents. The principal and assistant principal, counselor, front office staff, etc are patient, knowledgeable, and kind. Our teacher this year is absolutely incredible, going above and beyond for her students. My child loves coming to school each day.

Our son has been there two years (he is in second grade now) and we absolutely love the school. We like the teachers, the principal, the laid back atmosphere, and the general involvement of all parents. Mrs Brown, my son's second grade teacher is great, and so were his first grade teachers. We count ourselves lucky that our son is in this school.

We thought this small school and its teachers were wonderful - until 2012. Now, we're left with mixed feelings. There occurred two very startling public incidents involving a 4th-grade teacher and a few students. Instead of taking immediate action toward resolution, the principal attempted a cover-up, blatantly and literally telling more than one family that the teacher "didn't do that" - without speaking to two full classes of student witnesses. If you're not of a certain social standing, and if you don't stand firm and demand truth and fair resolutions, don't expect concerns to be taken seriously. It wasn't until one parent stepped in, who refused to give up trying to help these children, that administration finally (yet, begrudgingly) took notice. The guidance counselor and most teachers are fantastic...but the principal uses misdirection, makes snide comments to students when parents aren't around, and sweeps teacher misconduct under the rug. The parallels b/w her behavior and the offending teacher's are uncanny. If you choose this school, please -regularly- maintain an open dialogue with your child on everyday goings-on to ensure a safe, healthy, & satisfactory experience.
