My name is Veronica, I graduated from SMCA in 2022. I attended St. Matthas C.A from pre-k all the way through 8th. This school is a close-knit school that made me feel safe and at home. The teachers were excellent and I made a lot of long lasting friendships. St. Matthias C.A in all is an amazing school and I would recommend it to anyone.

We have been a part of the St. Matthias Catholic Academy (SMCA) family for the last 12 years. This is not just a school; it is a caring community. Volunteering at school allowed me to meet some great parents who became my best friends. Both my children started their education at SMCA from Pre-K. They always had very caring and dedicated teachers. I feel safe leaving my kids at school while I have to go to work. My kids love the school and their friends. My older son graduated from SMCA in 2022; his former teachers always greet him with a smile whenever he stops by his alma mater. SMCA offers a great after-school program led by Ms. Vicky, who knows all the children by their names and ensures they are well cared for. While in after-school, kids do their homework, play games, and work on art projects. The new principal, Mrs.Donahue, is an excellent educator; she is always there to support the students and teachers. She goes above and beyond to ensure our children get a quality education. The school offers regent’s prep classes for 8th graders. There are various clubs (Darama, Lego, Prayer, YearBook) and extracurricular activities (piano, band, soccer, basketball, choir). SMCA organizes many family events where we get to spend time with other families (Christmas Show, Family Dance, Radio bingo, 100 Club, etc). St. Matthias Catholic School is a great neighborhood school.

An Excellent School with Extraordinary StaffSt. Matthias Catholic Academy (SMCA) has been such a great place to be. It has acquired a new principle that has brought a new and positive energy to the school. Students are excelling academically. Afterschool clubs are exploding as students are growing more social after COVID. More importantly, the St. Matthias community is STRONG. We band together as a family. SMCA is not just a school but a welcoming community that makes you feel you matter and you BELONG!!!

SMCA has been a home to my kids for about 6 years and they have been amazing! The staff and teachers are the most amazing people your children will ever get to work with. Without a doubt my kids have been receiving the most amazing education here and I can say I do not regret having my kids enrolled here. At this school you feel like family and are treated as such. This year alone my kids were able to experience new activities that brought joy to their lives, like choir, led by the very own principal!

This school has been a home to my children, the staff has become family. This school provides a safe space to all children and family. Staff members know your children personally and work hard to help them success. They foster a happy, healthy educational environment.

Love St.Matthias! Very family oriented, they care so much about your child and your child's education as well catholic studies. The Pre-K teacher Mrs. Colon is just one of a kind. Please do not hesitate to visit the school. You can tell by the interacting with the 8th graders the level of respect and knowledge you did not make a mistake in choosing this school for your child.

Principal Wehnes is an amazing Principal. The teachers are very good and the staff is friendly. If you are looking for a traditional old school Catholic school with a strong emphasis on education, this is a good choice for your child. There is strong parent involvement to ensure that the children success. The only negative is the lack of friendliness amongst parents.

How does a child graduate with straight A's and honors wind up in 8th grade math when entering Junior high school in New Jersey? My child will now have to take Geometry in the summer in order to catch up...something to think about..Also , why dont they have a hot lunch cafeteria at that school? The school makes PLENTY of money I paid over 4000 dollars for four years not including all the money during the school year I dont understand why my child had to take a sandwich for 8 years straight he wont even look at cold cuts any more. This school is ok compared to what the other options are around that area but obviously something is lacking in their curriculum.

My school is very unique.it has a diversity of races and teachers. Some teachers may appear on the unfair side such as the 6th grade teachers. Besides those 2 teachers, the school environment is very warm and loving. The students are always being assisted and challenged. Which is why many of the students graduate with scholarships. The students in the older grades get a 15 minute " recess" with no snack at 10:55 am. The younger students get a snack as long as they brought one varying at different times. This school is perfect if you are looking for a school with discipline! I wish you all luck in which ever school you decide to place your child or children in.
