My child is in the magnet IT program and it has been phenomenal so far. The magnet coordinator is a tip-notch educator. She’s a wonderful manager of the program and is so caring about each and every single student. She knows all of the magnet students by name.. It’s my daughter’s first year at the school and she is so happy there and being far more challenged than she was in the Cambridge program she was in at Boca Raton Community Middle School last year. She’s in Honors Algebra and getting HS credit for it in 7th grade. On back to school night I was so completely impressed with the curriculum and each of her teachers. Is the school beautiful and new with gorgeous sports fields and facilities? No. But there are plenty of sports and clubs offered. And I cannot say enough great things about this magnet program and the education my daughter is getting there. All of her teachers are fast responding to me when I have questions and respond immediately in emails. And the fact that it’s a direct pathway into Pompano Beach High School as long as you maintain your grades and test scores— is the best part. PBHS is one of the top high schools in the country, not just the state. Don’t judge a book by its cover. If you go visit the school and spend the time with the Magnet coordinator you will see for yourself what a quality program this is. Get involved with the PTO like I and many other parents have and you’ll see it’s a great community with other parents who deeply care about their child’s education.

PBMS has exceeded my expectations and is really improving in terms of the overall quality of students and programs it offers. There is great IT magnet program where students can stay on track and if they meet criteria (GPA and 3 or higher on FAST), is a direct feeder into Pompano High. The student body is really improving in performing above state standards as the 6th grade class for 2023-24 school year has over 50% of the students making Honor Roll. The principal responds very quickly to any concerns, and all other administrators are professional and responsive as well.

Horrible school. Most staff are very disrespectful, few are nice. There are fights often. Students are also disrespectful and teacher do not care.

Huge improvement in this school, better teachers since 2020, better class rooms, equipment. What a transformation with the development of old pompano!

After many attempts in a priod of over four months to get a resolution for my child being a victim of bullying; not one administrator cared to report any of the incidents or at least given me a courtesy call. I am now hoping to get a response to my email from School Superintendent Robert Runcie.

Horrible! I had great expectations for my son starting this school with many of his friends and classmates from elementary school for the new magnet program. He was in GEM math and I was so proud but due to low FSA scores (that are prevalent here at Pompano Beach Middle) and thanks to the terrible teaching staff he had to be removed from the program. He is now in his third and final year and we are just biding time hoping to move on to PBHS but even that is in question.

I worked at Pompano Beach Middle School (PBMS) for 35 years. It is a dynamic school with many opportunities, including enough high school credits to complete the ninth grade before entering high school.Students from PBMS have become doctors, lawyers and military officers. The school is not perfect, no school is. Picture throwing a daily 7 hour party for 1,000 children ages 10 to 13.During my tenure, I learned some reviews have untruthful motives. Some might originate from a student with a bad report card, getting caught in mischief with consequences, parents not believing administration and staff from other schools (even sometimes unsuccessful applicants) that have no correlation to the daily school functions.Pompano Beach Middle School has an "Open Door" policy. You may visit the school at any time of the day. I strongly suggest you take a tour to get first hand knowledge of the school.

My son is a student at Pompano Middle. He did well on his FSA testing in elementary school but terrible at Pompano Middle. There are too many new teachers. Why doesn't anybody stay? Our magnet coordinator, Jannette Thompson Irwin who has worked here forever, chose to send her own son to Crystal Lake Middle School. That says it all.

I had to withdraw my child from this school the first week it began because of "bullying" issues. I will not tolerate an administration that refuses to recognize the problems we are having at this school.

Very Poor, the fights had went down in my 8th grade year, yet the major ones still happen. For Example, this one time a girl was threatening another girl and a crowd formed. A hispanic boy pushed one of the girls into the other. With the snap of a finger a fight had ensued. People who crowded eventually got hit by accident and that led to a boy punching and slamming a girl onto concrete. Her face had been bloodied and sirens were wailing. Cops had arrived and the boy and many others ran off. Through holes in the camera surveillance they could not find the boy who hit the female. I saw all of this through the window of my bus seat.

It is my second day of school and witnesses a terrible fight between three students. The Police Officer stationed at my school got involved. I have all new teachers, some seem eager to teach while some don't care. I think I made a mistake choosing this school.

My child just received her report card and is doing fine academically. We started this school with low expectations and soon found out that we had set the bar too high! The lack of respect to both the teachers and other students by hooligans, the fighting, and the foul language that is used on a daily basis on campus is astounding. With only 33 days left in this school year, I am happy to say that she will be transferring to a better learning environment.

My child came from McNab Elementary, and is happy and safe at Pompano Middle. We decided on Pompano after much research. We knew coming in that this is an east side public school with some low performing elementary schools feeding into it. With the new IT magnet program, the school is changing. I am confident that my child will complete the magnet and GEM classes, and will advance to Pompano High. My sixth grader got involved in sports and clubs right off the bat and is proud to be a Bengal. Any concerns that I have voiced have been answered by the administration, faculty, or staff. I'm not sure where the "fights every day" and "not getting in PBHS" rumors are coming from, I was worried about the same before we started the year, but they are not valid. To the reviewer after me, I stand by my review. My child reported a cafeteria fight at the beginning of the year, which was dealt with right away. I'm involved with the PTSA and SAC organizations and spend time in the school. While on campus, I have not seen any said fighting, and have been impressed by the politeness of the students. Have I heard curse words while on campus? Yes- it's public middle school and I'm sure I said some bad words when I was that age, too. Every family has to make their own decision regarding school selection. After reading a number of negative reviews I felt I was important for me to share my family's experience. Also, we are on this IT magnet path towards our goal of PBHS, and am wondering if those saying that their student did not or will not have the opportunity to is not in the sixth grade/first round of the new program. I've heard during several meetings (including a meeting that was attended by a PBHS magnet coordinator) that this applies only to those students. I mean no disrespect to anyone, I was simply sharing my review.

HUGE MISTAKE GOING HERE. My child started in this school with a group of friends from McNab Elementary for the new Information Technology and Computer Engineering magnet program. We were all lured in by a great "open house" and a cool new theme. The magnet program consists of about half of the students in each grade. I have come to find out there is no way all (apx. 150) of our kids will get into Pompano Beach H.S. We are told they can get into Deerfield Beach High School, Ely or other schools now that we are here. The magnet coordinator will tell you anything to get you to enroll here BUT this is her last year here since she is retiring. I feel duped. So far there have been a ridiculous amount of fights here at Pompano Middle. You become numb to it. Three years will feel like 20 years to you if you go here and your kid suffers everyday.

My son attends the school, great teaching team. Any issues with improper personal behavior is dealt with quickly and effectively.

Unsafe environment, fights, thefts, foul language, lack of respect to both students and teachers. Just a terrible learning environment. I feel horrible dropping off my child every morning knowing that they don't want to be there and are afraid.
