As a single mom, I have been trying for years to get my son into Highlands Christian but could not afford it on my income. With the Step-Up Scholarship, we were finally able to achieve our goal for my 14 yr old to start High School as a Freshman. We went through Orientation which was quite detailed and allowed my son to meet his Teachers and get to know his way around the school and his schedule. He just had his first day, and has made friends and is so happy for what the next 4 years will bring. I believe in a biblical education and so happy to see that the students have Chapel once a week. The staff has been amazing with the application and transition process for my son to go from being Homeschooled, to back to having a student experience at school. I am hoping to be a steward and volunteer in a PTA capacity to raise money for the teachers and students. We are thrilled to be part of the HCA family.

This school is an amazing learning institution that provides students with the opportunities of a lifetime. The students are reared up in the nurture and admonission of the Lord. Some people have posted scathing reviews of this school, but that is just an indication of a greater heart problem. It is obvious that he teachers at Highlands care greatly about their students and pour all of their energy into making sure that the students are ready to face all the challenges which the real world will throw at them. The best part of Highlands is the brain bowl team. A student I once knew named Joshua is currently ranked as one of the smartest kids in the state. This is due to the effective teaching programs utilized at HCA. Joshua used his God-given abilities to quash the competition. Please donate money so that Josh can go to a really good college and fulfill the calling which God has prepared for him.

As a graduate, I can honestly say that I had a wonderful education at Highlands, especially in English, psychology, math, and fine arts.

My daughter went to this school for six years, all I have to say is that this have been the best investment in our daughter’s life. From the moment you enter the gates to the moment you exit, you feel the love from everyone. They wave hi and bye, but that’s not what I mean, what I mean is that they know your kid very well, and because of that they can make they light shine brighter and use to the Glory of God. Thanks All the HCA family. I don’t want to say they names, but from the security guard all the way to the head Master, my sincere thanks for keeping this school guided by God.God Bless everyone that’s is part of it. We love you Highlands Christian Academy.

My son started here for middle school this year and we could not be happier! We looked at a lot of schools and we really wanted to make the right choice. We are very impressed with the education my son is getting. The teachers are warm, friendly and you can tell from the office staff, cafeteria workers to the classroom teachers that each and every person my son comes into contact with have his best interest in mind. We just attend the High School Orientation and have decided to leave him here until he graduates. The best part is that my son loves school! He has made great friends and everyone here is respectful and kind. We also love that the Bible is the foundation of every class.

I have read some of the reviews on this page and cannot believe what I am reading. This school has been a blessing to my granddaughter. When she started this school she was coming from a public school, where lets say, she was not encouraged to be a better student. Now with Highlands Christian, she has excelled even to the point of making the honor roll at the middle school level as well as National Junior Honor Society. The have strived to teach her in a Godly way and encouraged her to be a great student. The teachers are friendly, attentive, have passion , and want our children to reach the potential that God has for each of them. So this is a great school to send your children. Have them get involved! And they will love it , maybe as much as my granddaughter.

Worst schooling experience my children have had. Teachers are uncaring, uncertified and incompetent. Administrators judgmental, legalistic and don't care about the students who don't fit their mold. Students tend to bully on social media, but hide it better on school campus. Food is bad.

To say that my experience at this school was below par would be an understatement. From being ostracized, but also being able to see the inner workings of the teachers and administration as I was friends with teachers gives me a unique perspective.I think it's strong to preface that not only are some teachers (elementary through secondary) not certified to teach in the state of Florida, they don't have any experience in education and/or do not have a degree in education nor the field they teach in. Furthermore, there is no such thing as critical thinking or different perspectives at this school. Everything is taught by two curricula: Bob Jones University Press and ABeka by Pensacola Christian College. ABeka is not accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (which the state of Florida belongs, and PCC is in Florida). It's a disgrace to call this effective education when textbooks are not only outdated, but present political skew and dogmatic thinking. I recall reading in a science textbook that God made black people to work outside. It is shameful that these textbooks are used.So from the poor textbooks that these teachers over rely on because they are not from a non-biased institution of higher learning, comes this religious and political hailstorm that they preach to students. As a student here, I was taught that only the Republican Party was morally sound and that the Democratic Party was run by Satan himself. Seriously. Students are not taught to think for themselves, and teachers will teach them what is right and wrong rather than teach the students how to think about what is right and wrong. Also, any questioning of any kind is wrong and sinful, so if your child is curious...I wouldn't recommend Highlands. Regardless of your opinion of whether education should be controlled by the government, this "education" is disgraceful and you would be doing a disservice to your child to send them here. Oh yeah, and one of my favorite memories is being told that women are not equal to men and that's the way God intended it to be. Even better, I remember a Bible teacher asserting that the President's stance towards women in the Access Hollywood bus was more feminist than Beyonce who sings about women feeling empowered by their bodies.

The school has taken a major downward plunge in the past two years. The main goal and priority of the school is to get more money, spirituality and education are only used to mask this fact.

This is my son’s first year at Highlands. He is in 7th grade and has always attended public school. He loves it at Highlands! We cannot be happier with this school. The teachers really care if the students do well and have a loving faith based approach to teaching which we love!

Great experience for us! No school is perfect; but HCA is a great academic investment, it feels like a family, and I highly recommend it.

The Preschool Department is staffed with the most caring teachers. They love the children and want the very best for each child. They are trained to recognize if a child may need speech, occupational therapy, or other disorders and direct parents to professionals that can help. I am very thankful I found this school.

They have so may opportunities to do extracurricular activities as well. I gives me peace of mind that the teachers and staff truly want what is best for my children Just as I do and they guide them in living a life according to God's word. Highlands presented so many avenues of achievement for our children: Academics, sports, drama and extracurricular activities to name a few. All of which are extremely important to a parent desiring the best for their child. However, for us, the most important elements were the Highlands family approach, coupled with their devoted adherence to God’s Word which was not just taught, but modeled before our children daily by teachers and administrators. From top to bottom, the thread you will find running through Highlands is a quality education finely focused with a Christ centered world view which will serve your child for a lifetime. We are now basking in the realization that we made the right choice. Thank you Highlands.

My Grandson has been at Highlands for two years. My wife and I have found the staff to be very friendly and caring. We have found his teachers to be involved with his welfare, learning, and accomplishments. The education is superior to that at a public school. Both my sister and brother were long time teachers - both over thirty years and retired - and are very impressed with out grandsons progress. Education is the one gift we can give which makes a huge difference in the overall success of their lives - a gift which is priceless - and our grandson is learning - but not only academically - but also self respect and respect of others - something that is lacking in our current society. In simple terms - we are very happy with Highlands Christian and look forward to when our grandson graduates from this institution.

I used to attend Highlands for 5 consecutive years, from elementary all the way to the commencement of high school , and let me start by stating that asking to be taken out of this school and put into public school was one of the best decisions I ever made with my life. First of all, the children that I went to school with (Can't say how it is today as I have been graduated for a couple of years now) were some of the worst people I have ever met. Most of them were judgmental, rude, and unfriendly. I remember that I experienced the worst bullying here in my life, which has negatively impacted me to this day. Also, teachers would do little to nothing about such issues, and asking the administration for help against the antagonists was a futile effort. The level of favoritism which exists at this school is also mind boggling, as there was always a couple of students which all of the teachers favored and who the whole school knew about. The level of education which you receive in this school is sub par to that of a C rated public school, as most of the textbooks were outdated (back to the 80s-90s) and contained inaccurate information, as most of them were from a "christian" perspective. Although I understand that this is a christian school, this does not mean that you have to provide students with outdated and inaccurate information, nonetheless information which you educate to children to send them out to the real world/universities. The level of hypocrisy was through the roof at this place as well, as teachers and administrators would harshly judge you if your actions, ideas or thoughts directly contradicted their own beliefs, both philosophical and religious. The thing that disgusted me the most over my time at Highlands was the fact that faculty would praise certain students for their involvement in the religious community present there, and then you would see those students directly contradicting what they preached on stage at a chapel ceremony, bullying students and partaking in "unmoral" extra curricular activities to say the least. Ironically, my time at this school converted me to an agnostic after seeing the blatant hypocrisy prevalent in religious institutions as such.
